I was honoured to support this Waterdown District High School student-lead protest for equal rights in the school board dress code. FREE Private Tree Giveaway

The City of Hamilton will be giving away free trees to Hamilton residents at two Public Works yards in an effort to give back while working towards our goal of increasing Hamilton’s tree canopy. This private tree giveaway is a contactless, drive thru tree pick up open to all Hamilton residents, and unlike our Street Tree Planting Program, residents can plant these free trees themselves anywhere on their property. Grace Anglican Church Fundraiser - 52 Weekly Wins

 
52 Weekly Wins with Grace is an exciting weekly lottery to raise funds for the creation of Bobby’s Place, a new community gathering space in the heart of Waterdown. Every week for 52 weeks, Grace Church will draw one ticket from all the purchased tickets ($25 / each) and the winner will win $200. After the draw, the winner’s ticket will be added back into the tumbler for more weekly chances to win! That is 52 chances to win! Draws will be videotaped and posted on the church website and YouTube channel every Saturday.
Waterdown Collision Fundraiser for Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada

Waterdown Collision is proud to partner with Fozzy's Fight to End Brain Tumours raising funds for The Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada. In partnership with the Foster family in Waterdown, a $50 donation to Fozzy's Fight to End Brain Tumours will get you a seasonal tire swap, mechanical inspection, and a car wash at Waterdown Collision. The Hamilton Public Library (HPL) provides many on-line fun learning resources for all ages. Councillor Partridge encourages your family to visit the link above for some fun learning resources such as activities, online tutoring, print and digital resources. 5th Annual Waterdown Scarecrow Walk

It's almost that time of year! Lots of fun on the way with the population of Waterdown Village about to grow by more than 100 Scarecrows. Three ways to win:

Mountsberg’s Evening Halloween Spooktacular

When: On Now Until October 31, 2021

Time: 4:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Where: 2259 Milburough Line, Campbellville

Mountsberg’s family friendly Evening Halloween Spooktacular begins October 8th and runs until October 31st (Friday-Sunday and select Thursdays). Register to bring your ghouls and goblins for a trip to the haunted barn and spooky, lighted Night Walk through the forest. The Mountsberg snakes and owls will make special guest appearances and families are welcome to enjoy the bonfire, farm animal barn and natural playground! Scavenger hunts for tasty halloween treats will round out the night.

The Lakeshore Boys Live! October 16th - 8 - 12. Flamborough Horticultural Society October Meeting

The Flamborough Horticultural Society, an avid group of gardeners that also provides Civic Improvement, continues to host educational seminars. For October and November it will be at Connons. For the October meeting, master Gardner Tena Van Andel will discuss how to choose, care and come to love our very own constant garden. Studies show that houseplants are important to our health and mental well being especially during those colder months spent indoors. Join us! As a not-for-profit Society, we rely on fees to pay for future speakers.

Join us at the Hamilton Fall Garden & Mum Show themed A Walk Down Memory Lane, celebrating 101 years of outstanding floral displays and chrysanthemum features! The Mum Show, as most people refer to the show, started in 1920 and has seen many changes over the years. A new theme each year has taken us through dramatic scenes of flowers, colours and displays with over 200 varieties of Chrysanthemums, and more than 100,000 blooms.

Our local Waterdown Dairy Queen is hosting a Miracle Treat Day event at the end of October- 100% of proceeds from Regular Blizzard® Treats will be donated to McMaster Children's Hospital Foundation. They are also offering $6 Blizzard® Treats vouchers that can be purchased for those who are unable to make the 28th. All contributions are made to the McMaster Children’s Hospital Foundation, directly helping kids in our community. Waterdown Halloween Treat Walk

On Saturday October 30, our Waterdown BIA will be inviting families to bring their dressed up kids and pets to visit Waterdown Village, show off their adorable costumes, participate in fun activities and collect treat bags. Follow the Waterdown BIA on Facebook or check their website for announcements and details leading up to October 30th.
Knox Presbyterian Take Out Meal For Those In Need

Knox Presbyterian Church in Waterdown has partnered with Hamilton Out of the Cold to become their newest site for hot, nutritious meal distribution. The take out meal program will be running at Knox every Wednesday from the beginning of November until the end of March. Our first meal distribution will happen on Wednesday November 3rd from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm. The meals are provided to anyone in need....whatever that need might be....with no questions asked.
Save the Date: 1st Carlisle Scouts Bottle Drive
 
When: Saturday November 27, 2021

The 1st Carlisle Scouts are having a Bottle Drive, curbside pickup, on Saturday November 27. Bottles placed at the end of the driveway by 9:00 am will be picked up by 2:00 pm, bottles may be boxed, bagged or loose. You may also drop off any bottles/cans etc. at the Carlisle United Church between 9am-noon. The money raised is used by their Beaver Colony, Cub pack, Scout Troop, Venturer Co. Healthy Youth Network


Healthy Youth Network, local Waterdown / Flamborough organization, is hoping to welcome in a new school year more positively than the last, recognizing that COVID has impacted everyone in the last year and youth have seen significant changes in their lives. HYN provides assistance to youth and parents looking for support and resources. The Youth Hub and Parent Portal HYN launched this year is live and holds many resources for youth for a variety of needs including mental health resources and preparation for the coming school year. Councillor Partridge encourage parents and students to access it and explore to see what there is available to them as well as to receive updates on our upcoming programs.
Body Brave Eating Disorder Treatment & Support


Body Brave works to provide accessible eating disorder treatment and support as well as advancing community training and education. Body Brave offers virtual treatment and support services with programming based on a self-guided, stepped approach so that clients can choose the intensity of treatment based on their personal needs and preferences and have access to support resources in lieu of waitlists. Body Brave also offers education courses designed to equip supporters with the tools to ensure that early intervention and quality support is accessible for all. These courses are geared towards professionals, caregivers, community supports, and to individuals who are experiencing an eating disorder themselves. "Flamborough Shops" Program by Flamborough Connects

Where: Flamborough (including Waterdown, Carlisle, Freelton, Milgrove, Lynden, Greensville and Rockton)

Available to anyone who faces challenges when it comes to grocery shopping (little to no support at home, at high risk for COVID-19, those with a disability, etc.), Flamborough Connects is now offering an affordable volunteer grocery shopping service. To receive this biweekly service, call Flamborough Connects to place your order and a volunteer will complete your shop including a no contact drop-off. "Flamborough Drives" Program by Flamborough Connects

Where: Flamborough (including Waterdown, Carlisle, Freelton, Milgrove, Lynden, Greensville and Rockton)

Flamborough Connects offers a volunteer driving program to help connect clients who live in Flamborough who do not drive to social outings or appointments (medical appointments, dental appointments, the bank, drug store). Clients must be independently mobile (walker or cane is acceptable) and must give 5 business days’ notice in advance in order to provide enough time to book a volunteer driver. Food with Grace Waterdown Food Bank

When: Open Tuesdays

Where: Grace Anglican Church, 157 Mill Street N (parking can be accessed from ​182 Main Street N)

Food with Grace Waterdown Food Bank remains open to all in the community, with precautionary restrictions, on Tuesdays from 2-6pm. Please do not arrive before 1:30 pm. Neighbours seeking food assistance will be provided with pre-made bags of food at the entrance door. Thank you to our generous community for their donations.

Flamborough Women’s Resource Centre (FWRC) continues to provide services to women and their children experiencing domestic violence. They are excited to announce a new mobile program providing wraparound services to women living rurally, with a focus on supporting seniors. The mobile counsellor meets women where they are comfortable to provides risk assessments, safety planning, counselling, etc.
Flamborough Food Bank

Where: Flamborough Food Bank, Carlisle United Church,

The Flamborough Food Bank remains open weekly on Wednesdays 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Instead of entering the Food Bank for personal shopping, food is being packed into hampers by 2 volunteers who work 6 feet apart. Hampers are placed near the front door, into carts and then cars.
