Welcome to the September edition of ENEWS. Ongoing this month is the repaving/upgrades of Braeheid Avenue, Parkside Drive East of Main Street North, Cedar Street and Fern Street. There is a Waterdown Heritage Inventory Virtual open house this month, Truck Route Virtual Public Meeting September 2nd, COVID-19 Re-opening, Carlisle Library updates and more.

Please save the date for the Annual Flamborough Chili Fest October 23 - 25 for a weekend of delicious chili and other specials at participating Flamborough / Waterdown restaurants in support of the Flamborough Women's Resource Centre (FWRC). September Library Events for All Ages


The Hamilton Public Library provides many on-line fun learning resources for all ages. Councillor Partridge encourages your family to visit the link above for some fun learning resources this September, such as Scout's Book Club for reading lists, ebooks, fun activities, games, interactive HPL Bookmobile puzzle and science experiments.

Join in for noon hour concerts on Fridays. All local branches in Waterdown, Carlisle and Freelton are now open. Home Alone Safety Certificates for children ages 9-12 are also available through five, one hour online courses. More at hpl.ca
Connon Nurseries Fall Farmers' Market

When: Saturdays Until October 10, 2020

Time: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Where: Connon Nurseries, 656 Robson Road, Waterdown

Held in Waterdown, Connon Nurseries is sharing their outdoor space with local farms, growers and food makers for 8 weeks for a Fall Farmers' Market! Join Councillor Partridge for the weekly outdoors market, COVID-19 protocol observed. Stuffed Perogies will also have their Food Trailer at this event selling hot dishes for Breakfast and Lunch, plus Frozen Prepared Foods.
Rockton Farmers' Market

When: Thursdays

Time: 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Where: Rockton World's Fairgrounds, 812 Old Highway 8

Join the community on Thursday's 3-7pm at the Rockton Fairgrounds for a weekly Farmers’ Market with a variety of local farmers and businesses selling fresh produce, bread, meat, eggs, baking, dressings, flowers, preserves, maple syrup, honey and more! Shopping local is important now more than ever! Safety and sanitation measures in place.
Drummond Manor Community Farmers' Market

When: Saturdays Until October 17, 2020

Time: 8:00 am - 1:00 pm

Where: Drummond Farms/Drummond Manor, 69 Concession 5 Road East, Waterdown

Come join the community at Drummond Manor for their Community Farmers' Market. The market will feature seasonal produce, fresh baked goods, specialty products and so much more. The market runs on Saturdays, 8am - 1pm, until October.
Westfield Heritage Village Historical Tours

Where: Westfield Heritage Village, 1049 Kirkwall Road, Rockton, Flamborough

Each Sunday and holiday Monday, everyone is invited to take a self-directed tour that will lead you to a series of six predetermined locations in the village where you will meet with Westfield Heritage Village’s friendly and knowledgeable costumed interpreters. Carefully planned with the most recent recommendations for health and safety in mind, these tours will provide the engaging, informative experiences that Westfield is known for. Step into Westfield’s one-of-a-kind historic architectural environments and learn about life in earlier times and places in Ontario through multi-sensory experiences and demonstrations.
Waterdown Legion Fish Fry Dinner

When: Friday September 11, 2020

Where: Waterdown Royal Canadian Legion Branch 551, 79 Hamilton Street North, Waterdown

The Waterdown Legion is doing a Fish Fry on Friday September 11 - Haddock fish, fresh cut fries, coleslaw, tartar sauce - curbside pickup/take out only. 1 pc $10.00; 2 pc $15.00;
fries only $4.00. Please order online at On Line Fish Fry Order or phone in your order on Thursday September 10 between 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm at 905 -689-6112. You can also fill in an order form in person at the Legion. Pick up dinners on Friday September 11th between 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm.
Gourmet Dinner at Home with Carmen's

Join us on Saturday, September 12 for a delicious Gourmet Dinner at Home with Carmen's! Interval House of Hamilton / Flamborough Women's Resource Centre have partnered with Carmen’s Group to bring you a delicious dinner, as well as virtual dinner music by Dave Tabone. Enjoy a great evening from the comfort of your home in support of Interval House of Hamilton. Dinner is $50 per person and includes a $20 donation (with a tax receipt for this portion) to Interval House of Hamilton, and also includes a chance to win a fabulous door prize! Your contribution will help the many women, with or without children, who are experiencing abuse, violence or human trafficking during the COVID-19 pandemic. Home is NOT a safe place for everyone.
Virtual Meeting of 100+ Women Who Care Flamborough-Waterdown

Please join Councillor Partridge at the next virtual meeting of 100+ Women Who Care Flamborough-Waterdown. This September, the program is virtually bringing together 100 (or more) women in Flamborough-Waterdown who care about local community causes and who are committed to community service. At the online meeting, we will jointly select a local charity or not-for-profit organization. Everyone each donates $100 to the selected organization and watch how the group’s commitment turns into a $10,000+ donation. Do that four times a year and witness how $40,000 can improve the lives of our neighbours. To register, please contact [email protected].
Waterdown Virtual Terry Fox Run

Join the community for the 40th Anniversary Terry Fox Run - we will unite in spirit, not in person! This year with COVID-19 it is a VIRTUAL event. Register online and start raising funds and then join us on Sunday September 20th for a virtual event; walk / run / bike / blade around your neighbourhood, backyard, down the street, or around the block. One day ~ your way to help support the Terry Fox Foundation to raise much needed $$ for cancer research.
Flamborough Open Annual Golf Tournament

The Flamborough Open Annual Golf Tournament, hosted by the Flamborough Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Waterdown, is back on September 23, 2020. Are you a member of Rotary or the Flamborough Chamber of Commerce? Your team can vie for either the Chamber Cup or the Rotary Cup! Choose your option when you sign up. This year, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the golf tournament will look a little different – but excited to see everyone once again at the beautiful Copetown Woods Golf Club.
4th Annual Swing for Dreams Golf Tournament Fundraiser

When: Saturday September 26, 2020

Where: Carlisle Golf Club, 523 Carlisle Road, Flamborough

The community is invited to the 4th Annual Swing for Dreams Golf Tournament fundraiser for Dreams Take Flight Canada. Through Dreams Take Flight, local children, specially selected from agencies and hospitals across Ontario, are gifted a one-in-a-lifetime trip to Disney Land- made possible by generous volunteers, supporters and golfers. Ride for Refuge Family Friendly Fundraiser

Join the community for a fun, socially distant, family friendly fundraiser to support the programs offered through the HOPE Centre and Eagle's Nest Association of Waterdown. We'll gather virtually, self-organizing in smaller, covid-friendly teams or groups as permitted. Everyone can ride your bike, walk or do a "freestyle" activity like making a craft, learning a new recipe, doing a fitness challenge and more.
Flamborough Volunteer Appreciation Virtual Event

Join Flamborough Connects and local Flamborough agencies, service clubs and organizations in celebrating the communities dedicated volunteers. The evening will include the presentation of the 3nd Annual Senior Volunteer of the Year Award, treats to enjoy while participating virtually and tons of door prizes to be won! Flamborough Chili Fest 2020

Please save the date for the Flamborough Women's Resource Centre (FWRC) Annual Flamborough Chili Fest weekend event coming up on October 23-25. This Fall, join the community in spirit for a weekend of delicious chili and other specials at participating Flamborough / Waterdown restaurants. FWRC services have been especially needed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

All funds raised through Chili Fest will go directly towards supporting Flamborough women with or without children who experience abuse, violence, human trafficking or trauma.
Flamborough Paint Virtual Challenge 2020

The Flamborough Paint Challenge (FPC) is virtual this year - the community is invited to draw flowers and within each petal to write or draw what has been important to you, helped motivate you, or made you smile during isolation and physical distancing. Draw with either chalk, paint, crayons, or anything you can get your hands on. Your canvas can be the sidewalk, a window, paper, or even your screen! Take a photo, video, and post, or share your screen, then tag us at #FPVC2020. Once you’ve taken the challenge nominate three of your friends to take the challenge too! Flamborough Women's Support Services

The Flamborough Women’s Resource Centre (FWRC) located in Waterdown is a satellite location of Interval House. Councillor Partridge and staff at FWRC wants all women to know that services are still there for them. In responding to government directives and call to action from the Chief Public Health Officer, we are working hard to protect women and children in crisis to ensure access to their services. Food with Grace Waterdown Food Bank

When: Open Tuesdays

Time: 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Where: Grace Anglican Church, 157 Mill Street N (parking can be accessed from ​182 Main Street N)

Food with Grace Waterdown Food Bank remains open to all in the community, with precautionary restrictions, on Tuesdays from 2-6pm. Please do not arrive before 1:30 pm. Neighbours seeking food assistance will be provided with pre-made bags of food at the entrance door. Thank you to our generous community for their donations.
Flamborough Food Bank

The Flamborough Food Bank remains open weekly on Wednesdays 1-3pm and 7-8:30pm. Instead of entering the Food Bank for personal shopping, food is being packed into hampers by 2 volunteers who work 6 feet apart. Hampers are placed near the front door, into carts and then cars. Flamborough Connects is offering a new service to support community during COVID-19. Flamborough Shops is an affordable grocery shopping service for those who are unable to grocery shop for themselves. Available on a bi-weekly basis, shopping is done by our staff who are required to wear a mask and gloves. Groceries are dropped off at your door to ensure a safe and no contact delivery!
