Flamborough E-NEWS
May 2018
Welcome to May 2018 E-NEWS. Below are important updates, including updates on Parkside Drive construction, First Street at Dundas Street East new development, park improvements and much more. Please join me at the many events happening this May, including the opening of Waterdown Farmers' Market on Saturday May 26 from 8am-1pm in the Legion parking lot, as well as the 2018 Walk for Dog Guides fundraiser on Sunday May 27 at Joe Sam's park- registration at 12pm, walk at 1pm.

Don't forget to please call or email my office if you need help with any issues. If you see me in the community, stop and say hi.

Parkside Drive Construction Update

Thank you to everyone for your continued patience throughout the Parkside Drive Urbanization upgrades, which have been in the works for many years. The construction is expected to be complete by the end of August 2018. It will include a continuous centre turn lane from Hollybush to just east of Hamilton St, bike lanes, sidewalks on both sides and new stop lights. It will also include new sewers between #240 to #292 Parkside.

Although I am not completely happy with the construction site traffic issues, staff have been working hard to monitor traffic flow with few delays. And although construction is frustrating- the sooner improvements are made, the sooner residents will have a safer access route along Parkside. If you have any questions, please contact the City of Hamilton (905 546 2424 x 6288), or Coco Paving Inc (905 679 1524 or their 24-Hour Emergency No: 905 745 6022)

4-Way Stop at 11th Concession and Centre Road

There have been a few complaints regarding the installation of a 4-way stop at this intersection. After a local resident was killed in August 2017 on the 11th Concession at Centre Road, traffic staff reviewed the safety for vehicles at this location . There was also an overwhelming number of requests from local residents to install a 4-way stop. The installation will take place over the coming weeks.

First Street and Dundas Street East Development Update

As you know, this development was appealed at the OMB which in turn ruled in favour of the developer to build 81 town homes. Staff have been working with the applicant to address residents' concerns regarding the proposed walkway connection to Boulding Ave. Councillor Partridge and residents are opposed to the walkway connection for several concerns. The applicants have agreed to remove the pedestrian connection between the development site and Boulding Avenue, and this revision has been updated on the most recent plan.

Cranberry Hill Park in Mattamy’s Spring Creek Subdivision

Good news for the new Cranberry Hill Park in Mattamy’s Spring Creek subdivision off of Dundas Street East: the balance of the park (the east side) is being coordinated now and should be completed early Fall 2018. It will include a multi-use court, shade structure, playground and walking paths.

Longyear Drive and Duncan Avenue Park

The park at Longyear Drive and Duncan Avenue will be getting much needed upgrades including a new play structure, safety surfacing and pathway improvements. These are expected to be installed by July 2018. Staff will be working to give residents the shortest time frame of disturbance with the replacement of the play structure.
With warm regards,

Councillor Judi Partridge
