Spring 2022
Greetings!

Happy Springtime! Spring is one of the most beautiful times of the year. Flowers start to bloom, new leaves form on trees, and everything comes back to life, just like Chula Vista! Working to safely lift all the COVID restrictions, the city is starting to re-open, bringing more people back to the heart of Chula Vista.

Supporting small businesses, I have worked with several new small businesses to open and assisted current Chula Vista businesses back to being FULLY OPEN. As I am a small business owner, I know small businesses are the beating heart of our city and must stay alive and open!

As public safety has been my number one priority, I am proud of our Police Department for making Chula Vista an incredibly safe city. If you or anyone you know have been thinking about becoming a police officer, do not hesitate to apply. Our department is always looking for more individuals to join their family.

Please feel free to contact me and my office if there is anything we can assist you with. We are here to serve you!

Sesame Place is Here!
I am excited to share with you that Sesame Place is officially open! It will be open for the next two weeks, while the kids are on Spring Break. After that, it will be open on the weekends, and once summer comes around, it will be open 7 days a week! Be sure to purchase your season passes for unlimited fun!

Sesame Place is SeaWorld’s rebranded Aquatica Waterpark with all the same water rides, some new dry rides, and a lot more activities for kids, teens, and families to enjoy. All the bigger water slides are still there. Sesame Place is Chula Vista’s biggest standalone theme park located is 2052 Entertainment Cir, Chula Vista next to the NICU amphitheater. Please make sure to visit with your family and friends!
Supporting Behavioral Health
New Horizon Counseling Center Grand Opening
I was honored to cut the ribbon and open the New Horizon Counseling Center, which is now located at 3130 Bonita Road, Suite 202. The owner Eunice Santizo is a proud mother and worked hard for months to open her business at the new location. Eunice is committed to helping those that struggle with mental health issues. With an amazing psychology background and credentials, she plans on helping hundreds of Chula Vista residents, whether they be adults or children. Congratulations!
Outstanding Citizens
Meals on Wheels Volunteers
This season's outstanding citizens are Lee and James Powell. This rock-star couple spends their time volunteering with Meals on Wheels, by hand-delivering meals to senior citizens throughout Chula Vista. They were amazing guides and leaders when I was given the opportunity to volunteer during their Annual Champions Week. They have an efficient system in which Lee stays in the car to prepare the next person's meal, while James delivers their current location, and I am very proud to have been able to join them. Thank you for your commitment to making the seniors' lives easier, and keep up the good work!
Coming Soon!
Happy Easter Day!
Easter is right around the corner! With everything finally heading towards normalcy, I am excited to see several families out in parks, and hosting gatherings in their backyards for this holiday. Children will be able to go scavenge for eggs with prizes and chocolates in them and will be getting visits from the Easter bunny. I cannot wait to see what cool arts-and-crafts families will be doing with their kids to celebrate. We hope you have a safe and fun Easter this year!
Mural Kickoff
Proud to show that the Institute for Public Strategies has hosted another great revitalization project! This will be the first of 12 murals on Broadway Street in order to steer the community away from graffiti and admire inspirational murals instead. On Saturday, March 16th, members of the community were given the opportunity to be hands-on and help complete the mural! It should be finished in just a couple more days, once the local artist, Guillermo Munro Colosio, finishes the details. Be sure to stop by at the Firestone Auto Repair Shop on Broadway, between G and H Street, to view this amazing mural!
