Councilmember Moreno Urges City Team Charged with Super Bowl Improvements to Continue Work to Resolve Quality of Life Issues Year-Round

NEW ORLEANS - Councilmember Helena Moreno is urging the City team that prepared New Orleans for an outstanding Super Bowl to remain in place to continue its vital work not just for major events but also in addressing ongoing challenges within our city. Moreno sent her request to Chief Administrative Officer Gilbert Montano today.

The level of coordination and communication among all City agencies for the Super Bowl demonstrated how swiftly improvements can be made when everyone is consistently at the table. Moreno proposes that after Mardi Gras, this team concentrate on having a transformative impact year-round by completing long-standing projects like Claiborne Avenue and resolving everyday issues such as broken traffic and street lights.

“I was pleased to learn that the Super Bowl team quickly shifted to Mardi Gras preparations, but beyond that point, their work must continue," said Councilmember Moreno. "This level of coordination should actually be the standard way to operate. It should not take a major event to inspire this level of coordination and accountability. The people of New Orleans deserve consistent, high-quality service throughout the year.”
