Councilmember Palmer Continues Weekly Food Pantries and Announces New Location on Saturdays

NEW ORLEANSIn continued partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank, World Central Kitchen and Culture Aid Nola, District "C" Councilmember Kristin Gisleson Palmer will host food pantries for families and individuals impacted by COVID-19 every Friday and Saturday through the month of July. There will be two locations, the Arthur Monday Center on the Westbank in Algiers on Fridays and a new location on the Eastbank at the Mahalia Jackson Theatre on Saturdays.

As a reminder, no documentation is required to receive a food pantry box, and walk-ups are welcome. Volunteers are needed to continue the emergency food distribution sites. If you would like to assist, call (504) 658-1030 between Monday - Friday, 9 AM to 4 PM.

The food pantries would not be possible without Second Harvest Food Bank and World Central Kitchen. The two organizations have provided more than 325,618 pounds of food and 20,000 individual meals that have been donated to residents across the city. 

Weekly food pantry (drive-up and walk-up):

Fridays - July 17, 24 and 31

New Orleans City Council
The New Orleans City Council is the legislative branch of New Orleans city government. The Council considers and enacts all local laws that govern the City of New Orleans. The Council also approves the operating and capital budgets for the City, as recommended by the mayor, and continually monitors revenues and expenditures for local government operations. The City Council is also the regulatory body for public utilities. It also reviews and has final say on many land use and zoning matters, as well as considers major economic development projects for the City. As a Board of Review for Orleans Parish, the Council examines appeals of property tax assessments for real estate taxes, and certifies tax rolls to the Louisiana Tax Commission. Other responsibilities of the Council include overseeing the operation of the public access television in Orleans Parish.
