Dear Saints,

Welcome back Saints!  Praying you enjoyed the Easter Break with your families and are rested and ready for the six short weeks left of this school year! AP testing begins next week, the 6th of May and lasts until the 17th of May. The Counseling Department proctors most AP tests, so we will have limited availability for meetings and telephone conversations during this time. Please reach out this week, if you would like to get ahold of me by phone or to schedule a meeting. We will all have access to email for the duration of AP testing. Thank you in advance your your graciousness!

AP Exam Schedule
The 2019 AP Exams will be administered over two weeks in May: May 6 through 10 and May 13 through 17. Early testing or testing at times other than those published by the College Board is not permitted under any circumstances. All AP testing will take place in the MPR. Click here to view the schedule of exams.  During the month of April counselors will be coming to all AP classes to complete the AP Pre-Administration process and providing importing testing day information and reminders. 
Study Hall May 6 - May 17
Please note that during the two weeks of AP exams, May 6 - May 17, all Study Hall sections will be held in the Saint's Cafe.  The tables and seating area will be closed during Blocks 1-4 and after school in order to allow students a quiet environment during their Study Hall block.  The cafe will be opened as normal during Nutrition Break and at Lunch.
College Commitments and Pennant Bulletin board 
May 1 is the deadline to commit for most colleges and universities Stop by and see where our Seniors have been accepted and where they have committed. Seniors, don't forget to stop by to decorate your pennant and take your picture! Then be sure to report your college acceptances in Naviance !
Class of 2019- Transition to Life Workshop
On Tuesday, April 30th from 6:00p.m.-7:30p.m. in the MPR (room 207A) we will be hosting The College Blueprint for our first Transition to Life workshop for Class of 2019 students and families. One of the challenges that college freshmen have is managing life on campus.  This Transition Workshop will help students become college-ready and understand how a college or university operates. The Transition Workshop will give both students and parents an opportunity to learn and ask questions regarding the topics below:

·         Registering for Classes and Balancing Your Course Load

·         The Laws: When You Turn 18

·         The Importance and Role of Your College Advisor

·         Who's Who and What's What on Campus: Registrar, Adjunct Professor, Disability Services, Provost vs. President, etc.

Attention Juniors! College Essay Writing Workshops
The Counseling Department will be hosting a workshop for our current Juniors to prepare for writing college essays.  Please join us on either Wednesday, May 1st or Thursday, May 2nd after school from 2:45pm-3:30pm in room 111. We will review the UC Personal Insight Questions, The Common Application Personal Essay, how to choose the right prompt for a strong essay and students will being outlining their essays.  
Class of 2020 College Application Bootcamp
This summer, on Monday August 5, Wednesday, August 7 and Thursday August 8 from 4:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., the Counseling Department will be offering Crean Lutheran High School's fourth annual College Application Boot Camp! During this time, Seniors will create a Common Application account, a University of California application account, begin the application process for each, complete their Common Application essay, complete their UC Personal Insight Questions, complete their activities resume, learn how to send transcripts and test scores, request letters of recommendation and ultimately be able to start Senior year with the majority, if not all, of their applications DONE!   Click here for more information and to sign up!

Summer School registration is now open! We are pleased to be offering a variety of courses this summer for both remediation and advancement. embARC Summer Design Academy
Summer Programs Office at UC Berkeley's College of Environmental Design is now accepting applications for their embARC Summer Design Academy. This four-week program, held on the UC Berkeley campus, offers rising juniors and seniors with an interest in architecture and design an opportunity to immerse themselves in design studio culture and the college experience, develop a design portfolio to use for college applications, work in a team with peers who have similar interests, and earn an official UC Berkeley transcript.
