The Woman Behind the Posts

Nelvie Howard composes the posts on Instagram and Facebook. Daily Nelvie posts stories about Kingswood that appear on both platforms. These inspirational messages and memories exist for 24 hours. The posts to the feed are created three times per week and can be viewed at your convenience. Weekly the Friday post focuses on a volunteer. If you haven’t followed us, yet please do and enjoy the work Nelvie does. (Links are at the bottom of this newsletter.) Nelvie is passionate about telling the Kingswood story through photos and text.

Nelvie and her husband, James, and children first came to Kingswood when their son, CJ, was invited to camp with Stephanie Millien and her boys. Not quite able to let him go that far away, they decided to tag along. They’ve been coming ever since, enjoying the peaceful sites in upper camp. It’s a dramatic change from their home on Long Island.

Countdown to 2024

Let the countdown begin! There is less than a month now until week-long reservations can be made. From January 2nd through March 14th only full week reservations are accepted. March 15th reservations are open to all. Remember the Pines is only available for people with physical limitations until May 15th when Pines reservations open to all. If you need to know more about that site, contact Lynn at kwadministrator@nyac.com or call/text 607-301-0640.

A video tutorial will be posted to our website just after Christmas for the Firefly Reservation system. This will help you navigate the new reservation system. We only accept credit cards at this time, although we are exploring other options that would incur less fees.

The 2024 rates were set earlier this fall and published to our website. Kingswood continues to be a great value for a vacation. Remember there are no add-on costs for boat use and other camp activities. Everyday you can be out on the water from 7 am to dusk. All of our craft, nature and camping programming is free. Wifi is offered at the barn at no charge.

Annual Appeal

It’s the giving time of year! Please consider a gift to Kingswood to help improve our facilities and to keep camping affordable for all. You can donate using our website or you can send a check to Kingswood ℅ John Stidworthy, 430 County Route 1 Warwick, NY 10990. We appreciate our community’s generosity.

Assistance Needed

We connect our reservation system with Stripe to process the credit cards. If there is a small business owner who has expertise using that system, we could use your assistance. Reach out to Lynn at kwadminstrator@nyac.com if you can help.

Can't Wait to Return

If you can't wait to return, consider renting the farmhouse winter or upcoming spring. You have the entire camp available for your family's or group's recreation.
