Greetings!
I want to start off by wishing all women a wonderful International Women's Day. Women and children are most affected in humanitarian crises, and here at Child Foundation, we want to make sure that all women feel appreciated and supported for everything they have done for us and future generations.
With just under two weeks till the Spring Equinox and the start of the Iranian New Year, I think back to fond childhood memories of Nowruz – family gatherings, delicious pastries on every coffee table, and the joy of receiving Nowruz gifts (or eidis) from elders. We here at Child Foundation want to continue the tradition of gift-giving and helping those less fortunate with our Nowruz Shoe Distribution Campaign.
This year, Child Foundation is raising funds to provide 5,000 children with a new pair of shoes and eidi in time for the new year. Each child will get to pick out their own shoes, and local shoemakers will be used.
Join us
in this campaign so that we are able to bring joy to as many children and households as we can.
This past weekend, our Senior Advisor for Outreach and Development, Masoud, and our Communications and PR Manager, Sahar, were in Silicon Valley for a host of presentations and events on behalf of Child Foundation. From meetings at Facebook and Google, to Stanford and UC Berkeley universities, and home fundraisers thanks to our generous supporters, Masoud and Sahar would like to thank each and every one of you that attended the events or supported their efforts from afar. On a final note, I want to extend an invitation to all of our supporters in Southern California to join us at our 18

18th Annual Nowruz Bazaar

Come celebrate the arrival of Spring with Child Foundation at our 18th Annual Nowruz Bazaar, taking place on
Sunday, March 17
th
at
the Hilton Hotel Orange County / Costa Mesa
.
Enjoy performances by Gordafarid, Parisa Daneshvar Children Ensemble, LA Daf Ensemble, and tunes by DJ Farjad. This family-friendly event will include a children’s activity corner, a puppet show by Negar Estakhr, and treats from Amoo Nowruz!

Barfin
is a 9-year old student from Mahabad, Azerbaijan. She is currently in 4th grade. Her father suffers from Alzheimers and cannot work full-time, but used to work in a gas station. Barfin’s mother suffers from diabetes and high blood pressure. She works as a gardener in the Summer season. Barfin’s sisters are married. The family lives in a rented house and their primary resources of income are through government subsidiary programs and donations.
With your support, Barfin will have the opportunity to remain in school and have the chance to have a better and brighter future.
After reviewing Barfin’s talents, interest, and motivations and taking into consideration the financial needs of the family, Child Foundation has granted a

/month scholarship to the student.

is an 11-year old student from Siem Reap, Cambodia. He is currently in 5

grade. His parents are separated and his father has left the home. Sophead has 4 siblings. Although next September he will become a 6
th
grader, without financial support, he may not be able to attend school next year. Outside of school, Sophead loves playing soccer.

Update from Nogales, Mexico
|
|
We are elated to receive an update from Kino para la Frontera (Kino Border Initiative), an organization we partnered with last year to provide emergency housing and food for families and children waiting at the U.S.-Mexico border.
Kino Border Initiative has been providing aid to thousands of migrant men, women, and children who are deported to Nogales from the United States or arrive fleeing violence from Central America. We are proud to support their work in providing meals, shelter, and emotional support to migrant mothers and children currently stuck at this border city.
