CCAO welcomes new commissioners
Join CCAO in welcoming two newly appointed county commissioners:  Sue Smail (Wayne) and Ty Pell (Adams)!
Sue Smail
was appointed on July 20 to the unexpired term of Wayne County Commissioner Jim  Carmichael, who died in July. A life-long resident of Wayne County, Sue was introduced to politics at the young age of 5 when her father made a successful bid for the office of Wayne County Clerk of Courts. Active in her community, Sue has served on the board of the Wayne Metropolitan Housing Authority for 16 years, currently serving as vice chair and previously serving as chair.  In addition, she is a board member of the Boys and Girls Club of Wooster.  She is a Tribute to Women Honoree by the Ohio Federation of Republican Women and a graduate of the JoAnn Davidson Leadership Institute. Ty Pell was appointed on Aug. 22 to the unexpired term of Adams County Commissioner Stephen Caraway, who tendered his resignation to take the position as southwest regional liaison to Governor John Kasich. Ty is a life-long resident of Adams County who is passionate about serving his county.  As a developer, he has been involved in projects in neighboring counties.  Building on those successful ideas, Ty hopes to expand and stabilize the county's infrastructure to stimulate economic development and job growth. He has owned Ty R. Pell & Associates, a land mapping and boundary survey company located in West Union, for the past 25 years. A graduate of Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology, Ty is a professional surveyor and has worked for the Adams County Engineer.
