Counting Down to the 2017 Season!

This is awesome...just 4 months to the first TRi KiDS race in London, ON

If you missed our last newsletter, see below for a list of race dates and locations for the 9th season of TRi KiDS. As expected races are filling up quickly. TRi KiDS Burnaby has less than 40 spots left and TRi KiDS Oakville and Milton will be early sell outs.

TRi KiDS LONDON - May 28:

Formally Kids Tri 4 Kids. After 6 years as presenting host ScotiaMcLeod has decided to pass on the torch. Same location, Carling Heights Community Centre in London and same weekend as in past years.

TRi KiDS BURNABY - June 4:

We return to the great park setting at Burnaby Lake for our 6th year. Less than 40 spots left.

TRi KiDS BURLINGTON Duathlon - June 18:

This race will once again be a duathlon (run-bike-run) for ages 3 to 15. We look forward to returning to a triathlon when Nelson Pool re-opens in 2018.

TRi KiDS OAKVILLE - July 9:

Age groups 3 to 5, 6 - 7 and 8 - 9 only.

Due to the construction of a new athletic complex at Appleby College a section of Ring Road and the transition area are out of bounds. Therefore, we have limited TRi KiDS Oakville to age groups 3 to 5, 6-7 and 8-9 as the revised course is only suitable to younger age groups.

TRi KiDS OKANAGAN - July 16:

We return to Kelowna, home of our Title Sponsor SunRype for the 7th year! The beautiful Okanagan Valley is the first of back to back races in Western Canada.

TRi KiDS CALGARY - July 23:

TRi YOUTH has been added to TRi KiDS Calgary. TRi YOUTH races are for 14 to 17 year olds interested in a racing experience similar to a Give-it-a-Tri or Sprint Triathlon found at traditional adult events.

TRi KiDS OTTAWA - August 6:

We look forward to returning to the Richcraft Athletic Complex for TRi KiDS Ottawa and TRi YOUTH Ottawa.

TRi KiDS NIAGARA - August 20:

We have a new location for TRi KiDS Niagara, the Vale Health & Wellness Centre, a new, state-of-the-art facility for sport and recreation - the first of its kind in the Niagara region. The Centre is located in Port Colborne, Ontario and will be a great venue for TRi KiDS.

TRi KiDS FERGUS - August 27:

One of our favourites! Same date and location. Enjoy the quaint town and rural setting.

TRi KiDS MILTON - September 3:

Our largest race and season ending event. Always a great celebration to close out the series. Includes a TRi YOUTH race.

JOIN FORCES WITH THE HEROES OF HOLLAND BLOORVIEW!

From March 6-12, wear a cape and raise money to create a world of possibilities for kids with disabilities. Join the hundreds of people who are wearing their cape and raising money to create a world of possibilities through Holland Bloorview's Capes for Kids.

TRi YOUTH - Welcomes 14 - 17 Year Olds

This season we have added Calgary to our list of TRi YOUTH races. TRi YOUTH Triathlons are geared towards TRi KiDS who are 'aging out' of the program or for those who want to experience the sport for the first time.

Athletes in the 14 -15 age group have the option of registering for TRi KiDS or TRi YOUTH events.

Races will be held in Calgary on July 23, Ottawa on August 6th and Milton on September 3rd in conjunction with TRi KiDS races.

This is an opportunity for youth to experience the 'next step' in triathlon. Races are timed, however are non-competitive (no awards) and do not require specialized equipment. The TRi YOUTH environment is one of support, learning and of gaining experience. Learn more and register here.

Volunteer Registration is Open

"Volunteers don't necessarily have the time, they just have the heart!"

We are always looking for volunteers to join us on race weekend. TRi KiDS volunteers are engaged, enthusiastic, passionate and play an important role in the safety and success of TRi KiDS races. Please consider joining us for a race or two! A great way to obtain high school volunteer hours too.

The 13th annual Cadillac Fairview 5K Run/Walk takes place on Sunday, April 30th at Shops at Don Mills, Toronto ON.

Nicola's Kids Triathlon

The purpose of Nicola's Kids Triathlon is to raise awareness and funds for MFM research at SickKids Hospital. This triathlon is great for first timers as well as more serious athletes - it is all about personal achievement. The distances are short, any bike will do and the kids can do all or just one of the segments.

After the race the children can enjoy fun activities and a BBQ all conveniently located near the finish.

Aloha! We end our race season with our tropical themed Island Girl Half Marathon & 5K, Presented by Sparkling Ice on September 17th. The 'tropical' Toronto Islands set the stage for our women's only race. Leis, grass skirts, a live steel drum band and tropical fruit await you. Grab your sister, friend, mom or running partner, lace up your sandals and join us on the Island. 2017 marks the final sail....don't miss the boat!
