Counting Down To Forty

October marks the beginning of our 40th year of full-time,

biblically-based apologetics!

Greetings!

As we head into autumn 2022, I trust that your focus on God, His grace, and His direction for your life is clear and becoming more resolute with the passing of each day!

Regardless of the pitfalls and perils we may face in these last days, God's standing orders for the Church on Earth really haven't changed - even if the tools we now use to accomplish His mission have.

For me, it just doesn't seem like it was some 39 years ago that I first constructed a seminar-styled teaching presentation (using slide projectors, no less). That first message detailed and exposed some of the facts about the Rock Music industry that I had left behind. I'm not going to nostalgically dive into those days too far here but let it be said that indeed much has changed!

Back in the early 1980's we couldn't foretell the topics we'd address, the places God would take us, or how we'd figure in His plan of rescue for so many. Regardless of the human opposition or demonic interference we've encountered, both Melanie and I are eternally glad we answered His call to "go." What an honor and a joy!

Melanie's Health Update

This is good place to give you an update on Melanie's health.

Though she has completely recovered from the intestinal resection operation that was done on March 1, 2021, since early February this year, Mrs. Barger has been experiencing yet another health issue. Without trying to share all of the details now I'll simply ask you to pray once again for her complete recovery.

* Melanie is under the care of her G.P and also a specialist. Above all else we know with absolute certainty that God is superintending in the midst of this situation. Earthly doctors often help but they are human and only know just so much. However, there is nothing like being in the care of the King - that is, Doctor Jesus!

Throughout 2020 and 2021 I remarked how God had taken care of our needs and expenses in near miraculous fashion. With a main source of income literally cut off due to the pandemic and the ensuing shutdown (i.e. public ministry, speaking, conferences) it has truly been amazing to watch God's sovereign hand at work supplying for us and our work through His people.

As I have remarked on occasion, if someone would have told me 10 or 20 years ago that a time was coming when I'd only be able to be out speaking and ministering a handful of times in a 12-18 month period, I would have probably asked "at what point in that span of time did we go bankrupt??!!" But God just kept providing in the midst of what seemed like the darkest hour.

Knowing that many folks were hurting so much during that period, I just didn't want to issue a plea to fund the ministry back then and the wonderful part was that I didn't have to. PTL! God surely knew that I was already overwhelmed and emotionally spent caring for Melanie and picking up the slack when she couldn't fulfill her office tasks for the ministry and her duties for the care of our home.

But in my heart, I knew the time would come when I would need to turn my attention back to more regular communication with our supporters and subscribers. This is surely the time for that.

We have just come through the lowest 90 day income period (June-August) since the pandemic began.

Giving is down...our savings is completely depleted. And now I'm asking for your help.
