Prayer

God of power and mercy,
only with your help
can we offer you fitting service and praise.
May we live the faith we profess
and trust your promise of eternal life.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Call to Worship:
L: Come, all who labor and are weighed down with responsibility, uncertainty, and worry.
P: We come, because the load we carry is heavier than we can bear alone.
L: Come, all you who seek to relate work and worship, leisure and service, into a meaningful whole.
P: We gather for spiritual renewal and practical challenge, for help in making choices and carrying out our commitments.
L: Come, sinner and saint, with your hatreds and loves, your failures and successes, your sorrows and joys.
All: We respond to the Spirit’s leading and open ourselves to receive God’s gracious gifts.
We will be celebrating Communion together during worship on the 4th. ALL are welcome to participate.
If you are in need of a home-visit for communion, please contact the office so that arrangements can be made.
If you are worshipping from home, please gather your bread and juice and partake as we do, during the service.

A Time of Centering Prayer
You are invited to join us ten minutes before our Sunday service for a time of centering prayer. We are taking these few minutes before the service begins to prepare our hearts and minds for worship.
We meet in the Amaryllis Room at 8:50am. All are welcome.

Monthly Missions

In August, we were collecting funds to purchase gift cards for local teachers connected to Grace. Thank you for your generous support! We will present these to our teachers at an upcoming Sunday service.

Our September missional gifts go to support the work of Emma Norton Services in MN. We will share more details about this in the coming weeks.

*If you are giving a special "missional gift", please make a note on your offering.
The newest edition of The Upper Room daily devotional is available in the narthex. This is a wonderful resource to add to your daily prayer life. Pictured-cover art from latest Upper Room.

The "Healing and Joys" of summer are almost over, but we Women of Faith have much more "Healing and Joy" to experience. As our UMW 2022 theme states: "We experience healing and joy in all seasons."  In September, our UMW will focus on the healing and joy we are called to bring about for others.
All Grace women are invited to be part of the first UMW Fall Gathering on Thursday, September 8th, the 1st Thursday after Labor Day, at 11am.

Gary Bochman will be speaking about the 'United Methodist North Star District's Disaster Relief Program'.
Nancy Soderstrom will tell us more about her experiences working with homeless youth in our area.

A luncheon will follow the program in the Fellowship Hall.

These events are open to everyone within the Grace community and are not limited to UMW members.

The Hamline Church Dining Hall is celebrating 125 years at the Minnesota State Fair this year. It is the State Fair's oldest continuous concession. It is a fan favorite for serving beloved home style recipes and is run by very dedicated volunteers. Proceeds each year go to charity. This year they are supporting Emma Norton Services, which is also our September mission. Click to read more below.

Sunday mornings we have returned to live streaming our Sunday services, but we realize that there are still some issues popping up some Sundays. On our website you can usually watch the recorded service after 10:30am or so. There is a link to our site at the end of this newsletter.
We continue to work on making the online experience better and appreciate both your grace and feedback as we make improvements. Soon, we will be updating our internet capabilities and are hopeful that this will fix some of the issues.
We are grateful to be able to offer our services online and appreciate any gifts received to help this ministry grow and continue.

If you have something that should be added to this newsletter from your group or mission, please speak with Pastor Jen or email the details to her at jenmatt20@gmail.com. The E-Grace is generally completed by noon on Thursdays, so articles need to be received by Thursday 10am at the very latest.

If you wish to connect with me directly and it is not an emergency, please know that I will respond as needed during pretty regular office hours. I am in the church most weekdays from at least 10-12, call the office to be sure, as my weeks vary. Ann has my detailed schedule and can find me if needed. I check my emails frequently throughout the day, and this is the best way to contact me.
