Arts Updates, Interviews, Calendar, Calls for Artists and Volunteers, Auditions --- It's All Here in Arts Blast, Arts Blast on the Air, and on Facebook. | Supporting The Arts & Arts Councils Everywhere
Volume 5 No. 47 | December 15, 2023
Every year at about this time I ask myself how I managed to get to ten days before Christmas with nothing done for the holiday season. I never have an answer, so I guess I should take some pride in being consistent. I know I'm not alone but I also know friends who had their Christmas cards in the email before Thanksgiving. This year I haven't even made my lists yet! I know there's a trip to House of Meats soon for my kalalloo ingredients. I wonder if I could tie that in to a stop at the Fort Pierce Saturday morning farmers market and a visit to the Backus Museum & Gallery. Hmmmmm ... .
This Arts Blast offers plenty of things to do but there are even more stacked up in my inbox to add to the Arts Blast calendar at willimiller.com. Keep checking in and take some time to relax and enjoy the season. I'd love to hear what you're doing for the rest of the year.

The Vero Beach Museum of Art is hosting its third Art After Dark outdoor digital art exhibition, with an expanded list of eighteen new global artworks from several countries. The exhibition will be FREE to all visitors and on view during the evenings of December 15th and 16th from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
Brett Phares, lead curator of Art After Dark, worked with the Museum team to arrive at the final selection of international artists whose original works celebrate digital art in its many possibilities. Each night will feature the same artwork but different works from last year’s event, utilizing the latest technologies projected onto the iconic white walls of the VBMA.
Outdoor projection art or digital art celebrates the possibilities found at the convergence of art and architecture. Artworks include illustration, experimental film, motion graphics, and large-scale digital video projection with sound.
Food Trucks will be onsite, offering food and refreshments for purchase and a cash bar. Bring your own lawn chairs/blankets. www.vbmuseum.org

A Christmas Celebration at Suntree
Ready for a refreshing midday break? The 36-rank pipe organ at Advent Lutheran Church in Suntree will swell during A Christmas Celebration on Wednesday, December 20th -- a noon "mini concert" at 7550 North Wickham Road. Organist Lori Jahn will play the A.E. Schlueter organ of 2,196 pipes, performing glorious Advent and Christmas music for the holiday season. Lending their talents will be the Advent Choir, a handbell ensemble and musicians on piano and cello. The festive mini-concert will conclude with an audience "sing along" of Christmas carols. The concert will be followed by seasonal refreshments in the narthex for attendees. A Christmas Celebration is free to the public with no tickets required. For more information, visit AdventBrevard.org or call 321-259-8515.
