From the GM....

This Fall has brought some changes to the restaurant. Grace Gillispie has been promoted to Restaurant Manager (previously Front of the House Manager). Please send along a word of encouragement as she takes on the challenge of bringing you top notch food and service! We also have 2 awesome line cooks, Chrissy Knox and Billy Corbett. Chrissy has been with us for a while and you may have had Billy wait on you this summer. Both have their own strengths and talents and compliment each other very well! We are still looking for a part-time experienced line cook. Next week look for a few changes to the menu for the Fall and Winter.

You may notice that we have closed the restaurant on the Friday following Thanksgiving. Firstly, we made this decision to give our hard-working kitchen staff a break and secondly, our past sales numbers on this day have been very low to non existent. We will make sure the golf shop has plenty of beer for any golfers out on the course on Thursday & Friday. See below for holiday hours:

IRRIGATION SYSTEM

The irrigation system has made more progress than was expected but with its share of challenges as well. The control system is operational with the number of active leaks in the piping reduced to about twelve. Our plan is to have all of the leaks repaired before the system is winterized in November.

The pump station has had a few repairs as well as normal preventative maintenance required throughout the season and also a major failure. The station runs on submersible pumps which are mounted on a skid under the water. The skid contains two main pumps and a small pressure maintenance (PM) pump. The PM pump provides small amounts of water to prevent the large pumps from turning on and off as frequently.

In July one of the large pumps failed. Because of the time of year, the system could not be shut down to complete the repairs. Though it limited the operating capacity of the irrigation system, we elected to make changes to how we operated it and run the remainder of the summer without one pump.

Replacing the pump and motor is quite an undertaking with technicians, divers and a crane required. This work is set to take place in the next several weeks when all of the parts can be secured. Currently, supply-chain issues are preventing a install date to be set

LGA News!

It has been a fantastic year for the LGA members at the Country Club of Culpeper. Membership has increased and we have new additions of experienced and novice ladies out playing golf together every week. Ladies Day has been a great success with near 20 ladies coming out on a weekly basis. Thursday Golf and Happy Hour brought the ladies out again and a big Thank You to Jim McGrath, our Golf Director, for his support and excellent coaching. I’m sure everyone who came out learned something new.

We only have two more events planned for this year. First, our Fall Meeting is scheduled for November 9^th, 12:00pm, at the club house. Our agenda will provide the LGA members with an overview of the 2021 season and planning for the next year. Next up, we have the LGA Christmas party on December 14^th, the 2^nd Tuesday of the month. Our VP, Julie Yowell, has graciously offered to allow us to use her home as the venue. More details to come!
