“Goodness is the one investment that never fails.” ❤️

Thank you to everyone who joined us at our annual Hands Around the Courthouse event! Child Abuse Prevention Month recognizes the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse and neglect. 💙

Thank you to this year’s speakers: Honorable Chief Judge Robert Villa, State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser and Executive Director of CASA Kane County, Jim Di Ciaula. 🗣️

In honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month, 19 local businesses joined CASA Kane County in raising awareness by creating custom CASA murals. Throughout April, community members voted for their favorite mural design and were entered to win a $50 gift card!

Congratulations to the top voted mural: Harvey’s Tales! 🥇

A big thank you to Lauren of NIU, Madison, Kat and Maddie of GHS Varsity Girls Softball Team, for your creative designs and for helping raise awareness on CASA’s mission and Child Abuse Prevention Month. 💙

We had the privilege of honoring our exceptional CASA volunteers at our Volunteer Recognition Event! ✨

These dedicated individuals are the backbone of Changing A Child’s Story - contributing their time and energy to making an impact on the lives of children in Kane County. ❤️

We are deeply grateful for the commitment of our volunteers, some of whom have served for 5, 10, and 15 years! Every moment volunteered is invaluable, and we thank you and extend our appreciation to each and every one of our volunteers! 👏

Thank You!

A massive thank you to AKA Dance Studio in Aurora for their generous donation in honor of CASA/GAL Mike M. 💙

Each year, their dance company competes in an event that allows participants to give back by donating a portion of winnings and entry fees to a meaningful cause. This year, they chose to dance for CASA Kane County - and we are beyond honored. 💫

Your kindness and community spirit help us continue our mission of giving children in foster care a voice and a brighter future. We are incredibly grateful for your support and for inspiring others to give back! 🤗

A big thank you to Girl Scout Troop 322 in Batavia for their thoughtful Gift of Caring cookie donation! 🍪

Our Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator, Elizabeth, made a special visit where the girls learned about CASA Kane County’s work advocating for children in foster care - and they were all ears! Their generosity and kindness are truly inspiring. 👍

Thank you for making a sweet difference in the lives of the children we serve! 💙

A special thank you to Lola Harbeck, Miss Kane County Teen USA, for her generous donation of teen duffle bags from her inspiring “Love Haul” project. These thoughtfully filled bags are meant to help teen girls feel valued, confident, and cared for. 💙

When children are removed from their homes or transition between foster placements, they often carry their limited belongings in plastic garbage bags. Thanks to Lola’s kindness and compassion, these teens can now carry their items with dignity! ✨

Thompson Middle School recently hosted a sock drive fundraiser and teamed up with Wredling Middle School in a friendly competition to see which school could collect the most socks. A portion of the donations from both schools was given to CASA! The response was incredible, both schools exceeded their collection goals! 👏

Thank you to the students at both schools for their outstanding generosity and community spirit. Your efforts will make a meaningful difference for those in need in our community. Great job, everyone! 👍

A heartfelt thank you to Gina and her amazing crew for their generous donation of suitcases! This large donation was also able to make a positive impact on CASA Kendall County. Together, we’re making a big difference in our community, and the children we serve will now carry their belongings with dignity. 💙

Shoutout to the Prairie Pointe Quilters from Shepherd of the Prairie in Huntley for donating a beautiful collection of handmade quilts. These cozy, handcrafted pieces will be given to children and youth in foster care to provide comfort, warmth, and a sense of security during what can be a very uncertain and difficult time. ❤️

We are thrilled to share that Mary Greenwood, a CASA Kane County Board Member and Director of Student Financial Aid Services of Waubonsee Community College, led the effort to raise $2,142 for CASA Kane County at this year’s ILASFAA Conference! Through raffle purchases and generous donations from conference attendees, this impactful gift will directly support our mission to advocate for children who have experienced abuse and neglect. 👏

We are so grateful for Mary’s leadership and the continued support from ILASFAA and Waubonsee! 💙

Our latest Annual Report is now available to anyone for review! Our goal is to steward the resources of our donors and maximize the impact of that generosity.

Matt Sidman

Matt joined the CASA Board of Directors in spring 2020, inspired by a desire to support children in need and to learn from a team of passionate, driven leaders. He believes in using his strengths to give back and is energized by the opportunity to contribute to CASA’s mission.

With over 30 years of management and IT consulting experience at Accenture and now at Teqworks, Matt brings valuable expertise in organizational effectiveness and operational excellence.  His ability to build and lead high-performing teams is a key asset as CASA continues to grow its programs and volunteer network.

Outside of work, Matt has a son at the University of Illinois, two mastiff-lab pups who keep him on his toes, and the perfect partner to keep him focused and enjoying life at its fullest.

Maribeth Patke

We are thrilled to welcome Maribeth to CASA Kane County as our new Senior Staff Attorney, working under the guidance of Lydia Karjaka.

Maribeth brings over 25 years of experience from the Child Protective Division of Cook County Juvenile Court, beginning her career as an Assistant Public Guardian and later serving as an Assistant State's Attorney at the Office of Cook County State's Attorney. Issues involving child welfare are near and dear to her heart, professionally and personally.

Maribeth’s passion for child welfare extends beyond her career. She became a foster parent and later the adoptive parent of her now 19-year-old daughter, a decision she considers the very best of her life. This experience also gave her a unique perspective on the child welfare system. She looks forward to sharing her insights as she continues her journey with CASA Kane County.
