Comprehensive Rezoning Take 2!

The Land Use Department presented The Path Forward to the New Castle County Council Land Use Committee on February 6, 2024. The goal of the Department is to work collaboratively with County Council and our residents throughout the rezoning process. Click the graphic to view the presentation.

Kirkwood Highway Masterplan

The Kirkwood Highway Masterplan is now underway. Public outreach for this project will be conducted over the course of the development of the plan. Claymont Area Masterplan

Over the next year, WILMAPCO, Claymont Renaissance Development Corporation, New Castle County, and DelDOT will work with the community to understand the area’s opportunities and find solutions for providing well-designed multimodal connectivity and a sense of place from a future community center to the surrounding neighborhoods, train station, parks, greenways, and other community resources. Join us February 29, 2024 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Archmere Academy (3600 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE, 19703).

Large Industrial Structure Ordinance

County Executive Meyer was joined by Land Use General Manager Charuni Patibanda and several members of her Planning Team as he signed Ordinance 23-104 into law. This ordinance will ensure that large industrial buildings are developed in a manner that is sensitive to surrounding neighborhoods and enhances public participation in the planning process!
