County Executive reads to 1st graders at Lombardy Elementary
New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer read to students in Tracy Turoczy's first grade class at Lombardy Elementary School last week. Mrs. Turoczy invites a regular guest reader to read children's books to students as part of literacy initiatives in the students' curriculum. The County Executive read "Shark Lady," to students. The book highlights the life and career of Eugenie Clark, a marine biologist who studied sharks.
Public Safety department launches locally owned market cafe
County Executive Matt Meyer visited the New Castle County Department of Public Safety to showcase the new Nourish Cafe at which will serve members of the New Castle County Police, Emergency Management, Paramedics and 911 Call Operators at the Public Safety Building. County Executive joins planting event at Lancashire Elementary
New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer joined State Representative Sherry Dorsey Walker and State Senator Kyle Evans Gay to help elementary schoolers at Lancashire Elementary School plant their new vegetable garden on Tuesday morning. To see video from the garden planting event, CLICK HERE.
County Executive visits First State Squash in Wilmington
County Executive Matt Meyer paid a visit to First State Squash to see the group's new facility in Wilmington's Southbridge neighborhood and learn how First State Squash is utilizing tutoring and sport to enhance the lives and education of at-risk students in Wilmington and New Castle County.
