FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION
Construction Begins on Passaic's Dundee Island Park
Construction of the new Dundee Island Park in the City of Passaic is underway.

The Dundee Island Park Project, a joint effort by the County of Passaic, City of Passaic and Trust for Public Land (TPL), is being funded by a $5 million dollar grant from the NJ Department of Environmental Protection - Office of Natural Resource Restoration, the Passaic County Open Space, Farmland and Historic Preservation Trust Fund, and the 2019 Passaic County Capital Budget. The park is located on Veterans Court between Wall and Monroe streets.

Over the past two years, the County, City and TPL have worked in partnership to engage the community and seek feedback on proposals to redesign Dundee Island Park. After an extensive public outreach and collaborative design process, Dundee Island is going to include the following amenities and improvements:

  • Elevated field house with a concession and restroom facilities
  • Refurbished soccer field
  • Playground and spray park
  • Fitness and exercise equipment area
  • Community garden
  • Boat launch
  • River walk and landscaped improvements to the riparian area, including native planting
  • Ornamental security lighting throughout the entire park
  • Art and place making features, including a sculpture designed by a local artist
  • Amphitheater

Once completed, Dundee Island Park will be incorporated in the Passaic County Park System and maintained by the Passaic County Parks and Recreation Department. For more information on this project, visit passaiccountynj.org/dundeeislandpark .
