The County of Passaic was recently awarded $76,917.79 by the NJ Clean Communities Council for litter abatement programming. The NJ Clean Communities program aims to reduce litter through a statewide comprehensive plan that requires government agencies to implement cleanup and education programs. County grants funds can be used for litter cleanup efforts, educational programs, and enforcement of anti-littering laws.

Funding from the NJ Clean Communities grant also enables County Freeholders to approve mini-grants for local clean-up efforts within Passaic County. Any non-profit group wishing to conduct a litter cleanup can receive funds by applying through the Passaic County Office of Solid Waste & Recycling Programs.
