County clerks to the rescue

Jefferson County Clerk Bobbie Holsclaw is praising the work of fellow county clerks who processed her office’s paperwork and assisted customers during a weeklong shutdown due to a cybersecurity breach. 


Surrounding counties were able to serve to Jefferson County customers and help employees process some work.

KYTC accepting applications for new county road programs

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Department of Rural and Municipal Aid has developed a quick reference guide for three new county road programs.

County data: Average weekly wage by Kentucky county, 2019-2023

Weekly wages continue to rise across the country, including in Kentucky.


An analysis of data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows the average weekly wage in 2023 was $1,391 for all covered employment in the United States, up 3.3% from 2022 and up 22.1% from 2019.

Registration now open for broadband grant portal

Local governments, internet service providers and non-profit organizations can soon begin applying for grant funding to support broadband expansion across the state.


Kentucky's share of the federal Broadband Equity Access and Deployment (BEAD) Program is $1.1 billion.

Attorney General releases new elder abuse manual to Kentucky prosecutors

The Attorney General’s Office of Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Control has released the 2024 Elder Abuse Prosecution Manual. The comprehensive resource includes best practices for prosecuting cases related to personal, financial and medical abuse, neglect and exploitation.


The manual will be distributed to all 57 Commonwealth’s Attorney offices and all 120 County Attorney offices.

Rowan County adds new build-ready site to spur job growth

A new Build-Ready location in Rowan County will add to the commonwealth’s site development and speed-to-market efforts.


The site at John Will Stacy MMRC Regional Industrial Park, located on Rocky Adkins Tech Drive in Morehead, adds to the state’s growing list of properties that have been certified by the Cabinet for Economic Development as Build-Ready.

The Governor’s Safety and Health Conference and Exposition will be Aug. 21-23, 2024, in Owensboro with the theme “United for Safety and Health.”


Hosts will offer joint employee and employer safety programs that focus on involvement, relationships, trust, well-being, as well as hazard identification and remediation, promote unity and a strong culture.
