Important Public Meeting for Tennis Community
Tuesday Jan. 21, 7pm-8:30pm
Millersville Elementary School Cafeteria

AA County Department of Public Works (DPW) has announced a public meeting "to present the design and construction" of the new Tennis Center. (See County notice below.)

It is critically important for the tennis community to attend as an enthusiastic demonstration of support and interest in this project. Come listen, learn and ask questions.

Citizens can now hear directly from the County about their new plans for the Tennis Center at Millersville Park. This presentation should explain the County’s recent changes to the scope and development plan for the park.

Construction is now anticipated to start fall 2020 with completion spring 2021. The County's $6.53 million (approved in the FY2020 Budget) is for the park's infrastructure and construction of the outdoor courts.

See Tennis Alliance website (click here) for the latest information on AA County's new plans for funding and constructing the indoor courts & clubhouse and operations & management of the Tennis Center.
Summary of Important Project Changes

1. The County has reduced the project scope and will build 8 outdoor hard courts - instead of the planned 16 outdoor courts (12 hard and 4 clay).

2. The Tennis Alliance was informed in November 2019 that the County plans to issue an RFP (Request for Proposal) for a for-profit business to fund and build the indoor courts and clubhouse, and operate the Tennis Center. Under this arrangement the Tennis Alliance is no longer a partner in the development of the indoor courts and clubhouse nor a participant in the selection and oversight of an operator.
