"Be curious, not judgmental." - Walt Whitman
“Curiosity is one of the forms of feminine bravery.”

It contains lots of useful information for June including menu ideas, calendar, and monthly challenges. I love writing these newsletters each month to mark the journey through the year and each new month.
This year just keeps on giving. Following the eclipse in April, many locations around the world experienced the northern lights, or the auroras. Those who missed it enjoyed all the stunning images shared by others.
We begin June in Gemini Season and we may be feeling much more social and extroverted than usual. Ruled by Mercury, there will be lots of new ideas and thoughts swirling about, it's a fun and social time.
Later in the month, we will reach the Solstice. The longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere. I always enjoy this time of year with the gardens filling in more and more and the long days feeling endless.
The focus of June is CURIOSITY.
The energy of curiosity enriches our lives in so many ways and drives us to explore beyond our comfort zones. It leads to innovation and discovery.
There's an empowerment that comes with curiosity when we tap into our intuition and I think that's an important part of curiosity. Victor Hugo's quote is a recognition and acknowledgment that courage is required to take action that goes against the tide of the cultural norms and traditions. And while many things that we accept as our normal may have been introduced with well meaning intentions, over time those same ideas become distorted and corrupted often to the financial benefit of a small group.
In these times of AI, fake news, and clickbait headlines, it's especially important to take the courageous step to get curious and learn more. There is so much information and misinformation that it's more important than ever to be curious about where the information is coming from and who may be benefitting from the messaging.

Gaining a deeper understanding is the reward for curiosity. It's a lovely journey from curiosity to understanding to empowerment and personal responsibility. Sure, it's easy to go with tides and the trends, but when we want to steer and design our own life, we have to understand ourselves and what works within the contexts of each on of our individual lives, bodies, communities, relationships, and our souls and consciousness. That can mean getting curious about our habits and patterns and why it can be so hard to do what we know to be best.
The month of June celebrates many graduations and Father's Day in many locations. Congratulations to all of the graduates and to the families that supported their education. I encourage all of you new graduates to foster curiosity in your life especially during this exciting and often uncomfortable time exploring what comes next.
What are you looking forward to this summer? I'm looking forward to an upcoming two week trip with no computer! While I'm used to traveling often enough, it will be a real break to be exploring and be really unplugged in a way I haven't done for a while now.
Wishing a month of curiosity and discovery!
Cheers,
Sheila

New Intake Sessions resume June 24
After taking a few weeks off, I'll be resuming new client intake sessions starting the week of June 24. So if you are inspired to get started, get in touch.
As mentioned in the Q & A on my website, most clients achieve a great deal of success with a 3 month program. For those who continue for 6 months, we take the momentum and build a strong foundation of confidence improved habits, routines, outlook, relationships, and more.
Imagine what you can achieve in the second half of the year!
My work with parents and families means a great deal to me as I really understand how challenging and seemingly impossible it can feel managing difficult dynamics or diagnosis in families. In this context, we work together to create diet and lifestyles routines that support all members of the family.
This process starts with a free consultation of about 20 minutes to discover what will likely work best for you. During this chat we also look at our calendars and find a convenient time to schedule sessions. In between sessions, we communicate by email.
I look forward to hearing from you.
I help my clients find the easiest most actionable items to move forward on the journey to your optimal health. Get started with an intake and a bundle of sessions and reach significant progress on your health goals by summer!
All calls are confidential. I have extensive personal experience with mental health like anxiety, depression, or mania, family wellness, inflammation, weight management and pre-diabetes, stress, and hormone balance.

Challenges of the Month - CURIOSITY
Create an upward spiral in your life!
These monthly challenges are about being in a state of continual renewal and restoration.
It's important to remember that our body, mind, and spirit are all connected. Many things will support more than one simultaneously. Also, when we focus on one area we may find ourselves uplifted in other areas as well.
- SPIRIT
- Get curious about your own behaviors. Do you want to foster more joy, ease, fun, gratitude in your life? Pay attention to how your own words and actions hinder or support that happening.
- Use curiosity to understand others better. Ask the question, "I'm just curious, what led you to do/decide/think that?"
- MIND:
-
Get curious and switch it up. Instead of, "I could never give up bagels (or chocolates, cake, french fries, chips, muffins, etc)", get curious. Ask yourself, what would it be like if I didn't eat a bagels or biscuits for a week?
- Read a new genre of book than you are accustomed to from a perspective of curiosity.
- BODY:
- Try a new experience you've been talking about but never actually done - could be an art class, cooking a new recipe, a new form of exercise, visiting a new neighborhood or local experience. Approach it from the perspective of curiosity.
- Spoiler alert: the first time I made homemade mayonnaise was a huge fail! I kept practicing and got tips from others until I was eventually making a quick batch whenever it was called for and teaching others too .
- Go shopping and experiment with a new fashion style or new colors in your wardrobe. Get playful with it and notice how you feel.
FAMILY/COMMUNITY CONNECTION: Share the monthly challenges and ask family members which one they are most interested in trying out. This is a great way to connect collectively or individually. You can get a pulse on how everyone is doing while strengthening honest and open communication which gives everyone the opportunity to support one another. That's a WIN - WIN - WIN in my books!
I love focusing on just a couple of things at a time. Remember this is about building strong foundations one brick at a time. Continue to stay well hydrated, get plenty of movement throughout the day, don't skimp on sleep, and practice gratitude.
