In October, our Senior Director of Policy and Access, Berneta Haynes shared her expertise on health policy at conferences that drew participants from around the country.
Berneta attended an annual convening hosted by Community Catalyst, a national consumer health policy organization, where she spoke to an audience of Southern advocates about our current efforts to protect consumers from surprise medical bills. In particular, she highlighted our extensive media coverage and ongoing conversations with legislators interested in addressing this problem. Speaking on the panel were other health policy experts, including Samantha Wells of the Mississippi Health Advocacy program and Stacey Pogue of the Center for Public Policy Priorities.
Last week, Berneta participated in the University of Georgia's State of Public Health Conference, where she spoke to advocates and researchers about the vital role of community health workers in advancing health equity. She specifically discussed the achievements and continuing efforts of the
Community Health Worker Advocacy Coalition
, led by Georgia Watch. She spoke alongside co-panelist Alejandra Calva from Lazos Hispanos.
