Welcome to our community profile blog, where we highlight local community members, artists, or events that we feel bring greatness to our community.
This month we bring you the amazing and talented Courtney Blazon.
This Missoula artist has her own unique style and artistry. A spearhead in the Missoula art scene, we were fortunate to find some time out of here busy schedule and talk with her about all things Courtney.

Courtney's Way to Montana...
Courtney Blazon is an artist and illustrator living and working in Missoula, Mt. Courtney grew up in New Hampshire where she doesn't remember a time that she wasn't interested in creating art. Her parents were very supportive of her obvious desire to pursue her love of creating. Courtney continued on to acquire a degree in Fine Art as well as a degree in Illustration from
Parsons School of Design.
Courtney has called Montana home for the last few decades. Family ties to the Bitterroot Valley brought her out west for a visit from the east coast, she did not immediately fall in love with Hamilton, but Missoula spoke to her. Courtney chose to continue on with her art education and went back east to New York to get her degree in Illustration.
Later returning to the Missoula Valley.
Who is Courtney?
Courtney is a local celebrity to the Missoula community and we have watched her spread her wings as an artist. Her unique style and character are one of a kind
and we just love her. Courtney started off selling her artwork at the Missoula People's Market years ago and these days you can see her art featured at the Radius Gallery, as well as all over town. Courtney has blossomed with the amount of opportunities that she has had and has created for herself. She's shown in Missoula at the Brink Gallery, Dana Gallery, Frame of Mind Gallery, Missoula Art Museum, and outside of Montana, she has been shown in Seattle, Portland, New York, Philadelphia, and San Francisco, and most recently at the Center for the Arts Theater Gallery in Jackson, Wyoming. Her work has been featured in New American Paintings (Western Edition), Studio Visit Magazine, and juxtapoz.com. She is a past recipient of a Montana Arts Council Artists Innovation Award. She is represented by Radius Gallery in Missoula, MT.
We were fortunate to have featured Courtney's art in our Gallery in the summer of 2018. We had a month long showing of a body of work based on poems written by Richard Brautigan. Richard Brautigan was a writer and poet from the 1960's and 1970's. Courtney grew up relating to the works of Brautigan and this series brought out her inspiration from his poetry.
