Good Morning Covenant Families!

Mr. Hayward discusses Jesus' fifth argument against anxiety from Matthew 6 this morning.

Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing
Let's sing Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing together with Mr. Maurer.
Come, thou Fount of every blessing,
tune my heart to sing thy grace;
streams of mercy, never ceasing,
call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount I'm fixed upon it
mount of God's unchanging love.

Here I raise my Ebenezer;
hither by thy help I've come;
and I hope, by thy good pleasure,
safely to arrive at home.
Jesus sought me when a stranger,
wandering from the fold of God;
he, to rescue me from danger,
interposed his precious blood.

Oh, to grace how great a debtor
daily I'm constrained to be!
let that grace now, like a fetter,
bind my wandering heart to thee:
prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
prone to leave the God I love;
here's my heart, O take and seal it;
seal it for thy courts above.

Non Nobis
Our Grammar School students normally sing our school song,  Non Nobis  during morning assembly each day. We invite you to sing along with Mr. Maurer this morning!

Non nobis, Domine
non nobis, sed nomini tuo da gloriam

Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name be the glory.
– Psalm 115:1
Senior Recognition | Greysen Kemper

After spending 13 years at Covenant Christian Academy, Greysen Kemper will move on to pursue a bachelor’s in music performance at Messiah College. In 7th grade, during Covenant’s production of Hamlet , Greysen realized that he wanted to perform. Ever since, he has been involved in as many performance opportunities as possible, including multiple chorus competitions. Greysen has spent the last 13 years building unforgettable bonds between the students and teachers at Covenant. He is very grateful for the staff’s desire to help each student become exceptional rather than just good enough to breeze through high school. Greysen would like to thank his parents for providing him with the ability to attend Covenant and with the opportunity to be successful.
Join the Pushup / Bible Memory Challenge
Day 7:    Just as you learned it from Epaphras our beloved fellow servant. He is a faithful minister of Christ on your behalf (Col 1:7)
Join Dr. Sonju for a 14 day Pushup and Bible memory challenge to end the school year. Here are the details:

  • Do 14 pushups each day in honor of the 14 days of school remaining when this challenge was launched.
  • Memorize 14 verses of the Bible (Colossians 1:1-14) by May 21st. You can use any version, but Dr. Sonju will be using the ESV.
  • On the last day of school, send a video of you completing your last set of pushups and then reciting all of Colossians 1:1-14 to Dr. Sonju.
  • A drawing will be held out of everyone who completes the challenge to select 3 GS and 3 US prize winners.

Memorization Tips:

  • Write out the verses by hand on a 4x6 card, or you can print this pdf. Keep the notecard with you everywhere you go, and take it out frequently to practice your verse(s).
  • Focus on memorizing one new verse each day, and then reviewing the verses you've already memorized at the end of each day.
  • The passage has a definite flow, so you may find yourself easily memorizing more than one verse at a time. That is fine, but make sure you do lots of review of the section you've already memorized.
  • Try your best to learn it word for word – no mistakes.
  • Review last thing before you go to sleep and first thing when you wake up.
Discover Kindergarten!

We've released a short video encouraging families to check out Covenant for Kindergarten. We'd love if you could like or share it on Facebook if you know any families who may be looking for a school for their Kindergartner in the fall. Thank you for telling others about Covenant!
