Margaret and Bill Rowe, friends of the church and volunteers for Churches Together for Justice, are collecting signatures for the Redistricting Referendum. The deadline for all signatures is in 2 to 3 weeks. They plan to collect signatures from willing First Church congregants on their way into worship services on Nov 2 and 9, and potentially on Nov 16.
Here's a brief explainer from KOMU on the referendum push.

Your Invitation to Commitment
October 19 - November 9
| |
Consecration Sunday is coming, November 9! Consecration Sunday is our opportunity as God's people in community together, to commit ourselves with time, talent, and treasure, to the support of First Church's ministries in the coming year. The theme of this year's commitment invitation is, "Dreaming God's Dream: No Gift Too Small, No Dream Too Big."
Pledge forms are available now, from the Narthex table and online by clicking here. Read John Paci's Stewardship Moment from October 19, or watch him at our YouTube channel. The charts he refers to are here.
| | |
Please consider signing up for one or more of the following opportunities. The names of the opportunities are links to
Google Sheet signups. Worship staff will provide training:
Liturgist
Slideshow Presenter
A/V Volunteer

Safety Training, November 1
On Saturday, November 1, Capt. Jillian McCoy will hold a training session from 9:00am to noon. Titled "FOUR E Intruder Training," this presentation will help First Church members and friends identify and deal with security threats. The deadline has passed for this event's RSVP. To join an overflow list, please contact the office.
| | | Holiday Open House, November 9 | | |
On Sunday November 9th, the Old Webster Trade Association will be hosting its annual Holiday Open House. This includes a visit from Santa, trolley rides, music and lots of activities from various vendors. We have participated in this event for the past few years, but if we would like to do so this year, someone will need to step up to organize it, as previous leadership will be hosting an event for the church at another location. In the past, we have hosted the train and a booth with children’s crafts, hot chocolate and water. Thank you!
If you are interested in participating, contact Chris von Weise by tomorrow, October 31.

Facilities & Finance Update
- Several of us on F&F are going to paint the kitchen walls on Monday December 1. If you would like to join us, we start @ 9:00 AM.
- The company that is now doing our lawncare/landscaping is going to renew the Jubilee Garden. Look for a revitalized garden next spring.
- Every week I bring in a baggie full of plastic bottle caps. We've collected 211 lbs as of 10/29/2025! We still need to collect some 200 lbs of caps for our ONA Rainbow Bench. That's a lot of baggies! If you're not already doing so, please contribute to this effort. The collection bin is in the Narthex, and you can check the chart here to learn which caps are acceptable.

Jazz Noel: 15th Annual Performance
Sunday, December 21
| | |
Joining the Oîkos Ensemble will be award-winning artist Michael Anderson who will paint on canvas during the concert, interpreting our theme, Seeking the Light. Our program will highlight actors portraying the tale of four shepherds who encountered the angelic proclamation. And the Terra Nova Early Music Consort returns with a pre-concert at 2:30PM.
Every year we rely on the generosity of donors to underwrite our production expenses. All donations are tax deductible, and donors will be listed in the printed program. Contributions can be made by check or online at our church’s website, by selecting MICA as the recipient.
Jazz Noel is a program of our church’s Ministry of Imagination, Creativity and the Arts (MICA). We thank you for your continued support of our jazz and arts ministry.
