Dear friend of Sligo Jazz,
I hope this finds you in good health and coping well with the current strange events.
It is with a heavy heart that I must announce that, due to the massive uncertainty surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic, we have no choice but to cancel our July summer school and festival event. The reasons are many, but suffice to say the SJP board has unanimously taken this decision and I back it fully, believing it is the only way forward for us to ensure we survive and flourish again in bringing you magical musical events in the future.
We put so much energy and time into Sligo Jazz Project, we will really feel a huge void in our lives this year. As soon as the crisis has passed rest assured we will again be programming great year-round performance and education events here in Sligo and Leitrim.
We know that we will then come back stronger and with an even more love-filled event in 2021. We have already booked the entire summer school faculty and are confident that we will have a supercharged SJP in place in 2021. Dates for your diary are 20-25 July 2021.
Anyone who has already booked their place for the 2020 summer school event can leave that in place as their 2021 booking, if they so choose, or use the Eventbrite page to request a refund.
I would like to thank the backing of the Arts Council during this time. They have been most reassuring and so helpful from the start of the emergency.
Let's all stay responsible, caring, strong and healthy and beat this virus. I'm sure you all agree, in these difficult times, that music is more valuable and healing than it ever has been. With so many artists and musicians out of work please support any online activity, go grab some music lessons online, buy some music and keep the musicians alive as this time will be the toughest we have all ever experienced.
Big Love to you all wherever you are from all of us here,
