Maria Community,
As this situation continues to unfold, we want to assure you that senior leaders at the college, as well as Maria’s COVID Task Force, are tracking COVID-19 information closely from several key Federal and NYS agencies through both government affairs contacts and the Council of Independent Colleges and Universities. These entities include the following Federal Agencies: CDC, NIH, FDA, DHHS, USDOE, HRSA, CMS, OMB, as well as Congressional committees and leadership.
At the state level we are connected with NYSED, NYSDOH, and related entities on a regular basis. The New York State association for independent colleges, the Council of Independent Colleges and Universities (CICU) also sends daily updates based upon their contacts and briefings. All senior leaders also check the relevant list serves from the Council of Independent Colleges (the national independent colleges association).
Through these contacts we are tracking COVID-19 issues that impact the people in the Maria Community including students, staff, and faculty; as well as issues related to facilities, opportunities, and policies that impact our programs now and in the future. Be assured we are working through the data and directives from these sources and will communicate decisions and updates that are relevant to our community.
