Greetings!

Last night a meeting was held between religious leaders, medical experts and the Greater Houston Partnership regarding the novel coronavirus COVID-19. While the recommendation from the city is to limit 250+ gatherings, at this meeting it was encouraged that any gatherings over 10 people be avoided.

Based on the recommendations of medical experts, church leaders and after much deliberation Foundry is cancelling all worship services this Sunday, March 15. All events through Friday, March 20 on both of our campuses are cancelled as well. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide regular updates. You can find more information as well as regular updates at foundrychurch.org/coronavirus.

We will have worship online at 10:45am at foundrychurch.churchonline.org.  Naturally, the service will be simplified. But, it is an opportunity for us to listen to God’s voice even more intently. It is important that we all remain connected to our church community in the days ahead. We need each other in this season and our world needs us to offer the peace of Christ to our neighbors.

Church is going to be different for a season. However, this does not mean that the church will cease to be capable of living out our mission. Quite the contrary. We have an opportunity to spread the peace and compassion of Christ in every conversation that we have.

Some may feel this is an overreaction. We have learned important information such as the fact that a non-symptomatic person is contagious for 2-4 days before developing any symptoms. While 80% of cases are mild, those persons can infect more vulnerable persons including the elderly, those with diabetes or compromised immune systems. Our top concern is to care for all of those in our church and community who may be most vulnerable.

We are doing all we can to reach everyone who calls Foundry home, but we know there are those we will miss. Please share this information with friends, small groups and other members, especially those who may not have regular internet access.

May the peace of Christ be with you!
