COVID-19 Update – Online Worship on Sunday March 15

We are all aware of the Covid-19 virus that is making its way through the country. We don’t believe it’s a time to panic, but instead to take appropriate precautions to prevent the spread of the virus as much as possible. Our faith and trust are in the Lord and we should remain in prayer that he continues to protect our families, our church, and communities.
Tomball Bible Church staff and Elders have been keeping close watch on the course of events locally in Harris County and surrounding areas. As you may know, Thursday afternoon, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo issued new recommendations advising against close contact and requesting that gatherings over 250 people cease in order mitigate the spread of the virus. Up until that time, we had been planning on continuing to hold services as well as weekly activities with some additional precautions taken.

Unfortunately, we now feel it is in the best interest of our congregation and our community to cancel our face-to-face worship service this Sunday, March 15. We did not come to this decision lightly as we hold dearly our biblical belief that meeting together in weekly worship is how the church is designed to function (Hebrews 10:25). It is obvious, however, that we average above 250 in attendance on Sunday mornings. Even with extra precautions in place, this sickness can still be transmitted and is more likely to be transmitted in large gatherings. Out of an abundance of caution, in submission to our governing authorities, and because of our love for you as well as our neighbors, we will not meet together in person for our worship service this Sunday March 15.

However, we still plan to hold a worship service on Sunday, complete with music, prayer and sermon, in our empty Worship Center. You won’t be able to attend in person, but we will “livestream” the entire worship service, and we invite you to worship together online from home. We encourage you and your family to join us this Sunday at 10:30 AM on our website , live on our Facebook page, or live on our YouTube channel. Normally, we would livestream only the sermon, but due to the special circumstances, our entire worship service will be streamed, including the music. We encourage you to set aside this time to worship with your TBC brothers and sisters, although not face-to-face.
Additionally, all other on-campus weekday ministry gatherings for the next week (March 13 through 21) are canceled. We will evaluate our need to continue worshiping on Sundays in the online format, and whether to reinstate weekday ministries, on a week-to-week basis, per recommendations from local authorities and the CDC.
Thank you for your understanding and your continued support to the mission and ministry of Tomball Bible Church to glorify Jesus Christ by making mature disciples to reach the nations.
