Thank you to all who took time to fill out the Covid survey! Your honest input was invaluable in our decision-making process.  If you would like to see a summary of the results, please click here

The Covid team met last week to review and discuss the survey results.  We also spent time consulting the latest Covid science and examining local covid data/trends.  This was all done in an effort to safely guide our path forward at St. David's. As much as we all would like to be done with Covid, Covid is not done with us yet. Vaccines are still not available to children 5 and under and vaccine effectiveness is lessened for the immunocompromised. There is also a recent increase in cases in Hennepin County (case data and wastewater data).

In light of all this valuable information, much thoughtful discussion, and the strong belief that we should make Sunday worship as safe as possible and accessible for all, we have come to the following decisions:

Ongoing
  • We will continue requiring masks for indoor Sunday worship for the time being.
  • We will continue to serve wine in individual cups.
  • We will plan to hold services indoors for most of the summer with one outdoor service each month.
  • We will continue to monitor Covid activity in the community along with vaccine developments and adjust our approaches accordingly.

Beginning Sunday, May 1st:
  • We will move from requiring masks to strongly recommending them for all non-worship indoor congregational activities (Sunday Forums, coffee hours, and other church-wide events).
  • We will allow leaders of smaller individual groups such as Choir, Youth Group, Contemplative Prayer, etc. make the choice of recommending or requiring masks for their events.

We recognize that this is a difficult and highly charged topic, and that people have strong opinions and different risk tolerances. We ask for everyone to have grace and respect for each other as we embody the St David’s vision: Loving God, loving one another.

Respectfully submitted,
St David's Covid Team
