The bill is in its first reading at the House of Commons. Businesses will send an application to their local authority, who will then have due diligence to fulfil at their end.
According to the government statement, changes for the hospitality industry introduced by the government will:
  • reduce the consultation period for applications for pavement licences to from 28 calendar days to 5 working days, and grant consent after 10 working days if the council does not issue a decision
  • set a lower application fee for a pavement and street cafe licence of up to £100
  • remove the need for a planning application for outdoor markets and marquees, meaning they can be set up for longer
  • provide more freedoms for areas to hold car-boot sales and summer fairs

Rotary has been continuing throughout the shutdown, providing additional support to Hounslow communities as business and NGOs have had to withdraw. The business benefits of corporate social responsibility and of reflecting the current and future needs and interests of community and society have become more evident.

Rotary’s togetherTalks is a weekly series of global conversation events, connecting people from across the globe to a range of leading speakers from the worlds of business, volunteering, the charity sector and more.

The inciteful talks are every Tuesday at 7.15pm and are streamed live on YouTube. The 40 minute sessions give you access to in- depth and sharp conversations around important topics and the opportunity to put your own questions. July’s programme includes modern slavery and a discussion of the benefits of volunteering.
