(courtesy of Cabinet Office)

As per the Health and Social Care Secretary's statement yesterday afternoon, the government has announced that the new NHS Test and Trace service will be launched from today across England.

As of today, anyone who tests positive for coronavirus will be contacted by NHS Test and Trace and will need to share information about their recent interactions. This could include household members, people with whom they have been in direct contact, or within 2 metres for more than 15 minutes.
People identified as having been in close contact with someone who has a positive test must stay at home for 14 days, even if they do not have symptoms, to stop unknowingly spreading the virus.

Plans to provide thousands of long-term, safe homes for vulnerable rough sleepers taken off the streets during the pandemic were unveiled on 24 May by Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick.

The £160m commitment this year is an acceleration of the £381m announced for rough sleeping services at Budget (now extended to £433m). The funding will ensure 6,000 new housing units will be put into the system, with 3,300 of these becoming available in the next 12 months.

Close consultation with the Disabled People’s Commission means this development will be accessible to all. It will also be built to an eco-friendly design, minimising the scheme’s carbon footprint.
