Dear OLG Families,
We are thrilled to welcome you back to school on Wednesday, August 30th for our first day of school! Please look for more information tomorrow.
As you may be aware, Covid cases are on the rise in King County, throughout the country, and in our own community. Last week, our staff gathered for three days of wonderful community building and collaboration. Unfortunately during that time, a few of our staff members became ill, and eventually tested positive for Covid over the weekend.
Working together in a collaborative setting for multiple hours last week, the staff are all considered "close contacts" with one another, and with those who were ill, by the Department of Health (DOH) standards. For this reason, we will all be wearing well-fitting, high quality masks for the first few days of school, returning to mask optional after Labor Day.
After consulting with the Office for Catholic Schools, and reviewing DOH and Public Health for Seattle and King County guidelines, at this time, we will be opening as planned on Wednesday, August 30th.
All staff are actively monitoring symptoms, and testing, and will be staying home if symptoms develop. The only thing that would postpone the start of school is if there were not enough teachers to begin the year. At this time, we are grateful that is not the case, but I will promptly communicate with you if that were to occur.
At this time, we do not feel a need for concern regarding family attendance at the Ice Cream Social as you are not considered close contacts with those who were ill.
What this means for your family
- As a family, masks are strongly encouraged on campus and in the church.

If, as a family, you would prefer to be cautious and not begin school until Tuesday, September 5th, please communicate with Shelley at the office and your child's homeroom teacher to let us know of your delayed start.
End of summer and the start of school is always a busy time for families and the school community. Knowing that cases are on the rise, we urge you to take precautions when traveling, and to please keep your children home if they are sick, even if it's minimal or reduces with medication. When the new Family Handbook is shared at Curriculum Night, I encourage you to really read about illness and the importance of wellness.
