Dear JKHA/RKYHS Families,
As you know, the social and emotional well-being of our students at JKHA/RKYHS are of paramount importance, and we regularly examine our Covid policies to manage risk while supporting our students’ academic and social needs. The Health Committee meets on a regular basis to examine the impact of our policies, adjust them if necessary, or pivot to meet new needs that may arise. Based on State and Federal guidelines, and other variables, we may adjust policies to better meet changing realities. Please note the following:
Teachers will provide Zoom access ONLY to students who are recovering from Covid or in quarantine because of household exposure. Zoom will not be available to any student who does not meet either of these criteria. Students who are out for PCR testing also may not Zoom.
If the FDA approves the vaccines for students 5 years old and older, JKHA/RKYHS will continue its policy of recommending that every member of our community who is eligible for the vaccine be vaccinated. We do not plan to mandate the vaccine for students. In the event of vaccine approval, the Health Committee will determine new safety protocols with respect to quarantine requirements, testing frequency and participation in after-school activities.
We continue to rely on saliva screening to mitigate the potential spread of the virus. Students in grades N-7 and unvaccinated students in grades 8-12 will participate in our saliva surveillance screening protocol every Tuesday. If we are aware of possible class or grade-wide exposure, we will screen students on a case-by-case basis.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our community healthy. We look forward to our students’ continued health, achievement, and success!
