Volume 11 October, 2021

Merry Christmas from the Wilson's!

2022 could be called "The year of typhoon Odette!"

On December 17th of 2021 a devastating typhoon hit the central part of the Philippine Islands. Almost all communication was lost. It took us several months to learn the extent of the suffering there. Several lives were lost, but so many homes, businesses, and churches were damaged or destroyed. VFM helped with many repairs and rebuilding. Ten churches were totally destroyed. The immediate need of rice and food was our first priority. We had to buy a chain saw and two large generators before construction could start with two teams of construction workers.

Praise the Lord for those helping financially through VFM. We also rejoice that IDES (International Disaster Emergency Services) partnered with us to help with the many needs on the Island of Negros and other places as well. Thank you for your prayers for the thousands of lives impacted by Typhoon Odette.

The top pictures shows one of the destroyed church buildings.

The next picture is the Bawog Church in the mountains that was rebuilt by the wonderful team of workers. Ten churches were totally rebuilt!

The tragedy has turned into a blessing!

Thank you for making this possible!

Printed Materials for Churches

Vision for Missions provides printed materials for churches to use. Our main focus is for leadership training materials and we have several books that are in English, Ilonggo, and Cebuano. A few of the church leaders may have attended Bible College but each church must train their own future leaders. VFM has several TEE books that can be used for the training of leaders. Our printing ministry also helps with song books, VFM materials, youth materials, and various other printed items to help encourage the churches to grow!

VFM has an office where we print the books as shown above. Mary Bacalso, the lady in the picture, does the printing, works in our office, and visits churches!

Packs, the man wearing the red shirt, has helped VFM with translation work for many years. A new book is at the printer now!

Tonton visits the churches of Negros and helps encourage the churches as he delivers the materials!

New Church Roofing at Tanjay, Negros Oriental

After finishing the ten churches destroyed by the typhoon, they helped with this roof!

Offernings

In July of this year, Mary and I were able to speak about the Philippines at the Lakewood Church at McAlester, OK. and the Oakwood Church at Enid, OK.

The offerings at these churches helped put the roof on this church that only had a tarp between two bamboo trees.

Thank You!

Pastor Vic is 73 years old and still helping in the Downtown Christian Church. Here he is baptizing 8 people.

God uses all available people!

The question is not "am I a Christian" but "am I a Disciple of Jesus!"

We may often focus on the past when we accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior and neglect that we are to be an active growing Disciple of Jesus!

Over 60 leaders from several of our churches spent two days in November at the Green Plains Church focusing on being a disciple of Jesus personally and then being involved in making Disciples of others!

of the Bacolod area sponsored by the Negro's Women Aglow!

This building was recently completed by VFM. It is to be used as a church location on the weekends by Downtown Christian Church and as a camp/meeting place for the churches of Negros!

A Personal Note:

Merry Christmas

We have been so busy with the building of 10 churches from the typhoon Odette, and helping with many other needs. We often communicate with messenger and Zoom with our brethren there.

I spent the month of April in the Philippines this year. We hope to spend a longer time visiting in 2023! Mary had a total right knee replacement and is having a good recovery.

We have several churches that need a building in 2023! We are hoping to get 3,000 copies of a book printed in Ilonggo this month. We often receive requests for help on medical bills, food, and many other needs. Mary continues to ship many items by large boxes to several of the churches.

In September, we celebrated my mother's "102" birthday. This is our family picture with her. We sure enjoy being with our kids and grandkids but look forward to going back to the Philippines next year for a couple months.

Keep us and the churches of the Philippines in your prayers!

Thank you for making possible the ministry that started on Negros Island in 1985!
