Fall is here... how sweet it is!

Saturday is shaping up to be the quintessential autumn day - crisp cool air, crystal blue skies, and plenty of sunshine. We can't think of a better place to spend it than with your favorite farmers on the riverfront. You won't find much color on the trees yet but you will find glorious hues in our market tents - ruby red apples, golden pears, and vibrant bouquets. We've got cozy new hoodies at the EFM Merch Tent, and in celebration of the first day of fall we're giving away free market bags to the first 25 customers at each entrance! See you Saturday...

FRESH PICKS OF THE WEEK
From the Field
Holy Cow Farm
Fall is officially here and the flowers at Holy Cow Farm are starting to take on autumn hues. As the weather cools, the summer annuals begin to slow down, and the cool-loving flowers take their place. You'll start to see more and more perennials, woodies, and foliage in the farm bouquets. And now is when the dahlias really steal the show - they'll be in full bloom now until we get a hard frost, which can happen any time in October. Be sure to check out the flower stand this Saturday!
Cabbage Throw Farm
Baby Greens and French breakfast radishes are back at Cabbage Throw Farm this weekend. You can find both Farmer Mix and Arugula along with this some mini gem romaine lettuces, the first of the fall Napa Cabbage, bunched kohlrabi, and baby bok choy. Other items include carrots, beets, turnips, cabbage, garlic, shallot, onions, dandelion greens, escarole, Comeback Farm pears and more.
Phillips Farm
What’s Eucalyptus? Grown right on Phillips Farms, these fragrant branches will make your home smell fresh and clean. If you want to take it to the next level, step-up your shower experience by hanging a few branches of eucalyptus from your shower head... the steam of the shower releases the essential oils of the eucalyptus, creating an unforgettable and long-lasting aroma!

Stop by Phillips Farms this week for all of your produce favorites: Apple Cider, Raspberries, Grapes, Peaches, Asian Pears, Honeycrisp Apples and many other apple varieties. Vegetables this week include Butternut squash, spaghetti squash, spinach, fennel, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli, leeks, peppers, lettuce, zucchini, sweet corn, Jersey tomatoes, cucumbers, green beans, eggplant, radishes, carrots, kale, Swiss chard, beets, herbs, potatoes, onions, garlic and more.

Scholl Orchards
Saturday's sweater weather isn't the only thing that'll make you feel like Fall. Fresh pressed cider and bushels of apples including Fuji, Crimson Crisp, Crimson Gold, Cortland and Empire are all gracing the tables this week at Scholl's. Bartlett pears are looking good too. Winter squash is ready for roasting, and pumpkins are arriving - time to dress up your front porch! And plums are perfect for Autumn baking. If it's summer you crave - watermelon and canary melons are still super sweet. And snag those tomatoes while you still can!

Teels Hill Soapworks
Rich fall fragrances
You'll find a sweet fresh scent in Teels Hill's Licorice Hand and Body Soap. This is a blend of Aniseed and Sweet Fennel essential oils. It's all deodorizing as it takes the scent of garlic, fish or onions off your hands. Aniseed is said to mask human odors making it great in a fisherman's and hunter's soap. And fennel was used to ward off evil spirits during medieval times. A perfect soap for this month when the ghost and goblins are out and about!
