During the week of March 15, there were at least 1.6 million strikers on all 7 continents, in more than 125 countries and in well over 2000 places demanding that politicians take urgent action on climate change. The coordinated protests were organized on social media under the Fridays for Future banner and inspired by the 16-year-old Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, who is in her 30th week of striking on Fridays.
