IN THE HOUSE

We're All Irish on March 17th!

On Tuesday, March 17, we celebrated the luck of the Irish!

Staff and Residents donned their favorite green attire and worked together on a St. Paddy’s Day craft featuring a jolly leprechaun with long green legs and arms made out of construction paper, just long enough to reach over the rainbow and into that precious pot of gold!

In addition to holiday themed crafts, we also had the MCC Sip Club out and about spreading Celtic joy. The club worked together to prep and deliver lucky charm snack mixes and a magically delicious assortment of coffees and teas to all MCC staff members. And when they were finished with their deliveries, a few Residents met up with Occupational Therapy for some time in the kitchen. The Resident foodies teamed up to craft St. Paddy's Day inspired parfaits topped with cookie crumbles and Cool Whip!

WSFS Visits and Helps Us Prep for Spring

WSFS volunteers joined us Thursday, March 19 and helped us get ready to spring in to Spring! Residents and Volunteers worked in tandem to take mini terracotta planters from drab to fab just in time for the coming of Spring and the May flowers soon to bloom.

Our friends from WSFS weren't the only ones helping us get in gear for warmer months ahead. The MCC Maintenance team is in the beginning stages of a garden bed makeover, fit and easily accessible for the green thumb enthusiasts of MCC.

MCC Gives Back

Lead by Volunteer Coordinator, Terri Jones, Residents worked together this month to give back to the community in a meaningful way.

The eager group of volunteers joined forces to fill 50 Ziplock gallon sized bags with hygiene necessities and handwritten notes of comfort and inspiration to be donated to the Sunday Breakfast Mission.

It was clear to see the joy this act of giving prompted within the Residents as more than one inquired about participating again in the future.

Assistant Director of Projects & Development at the Sunday Breakfast Mission, Bruce Davison, stopped by on Monday, March 30 to pick up the hygiene kits and personally thank MCC Residents for volunteering their time.

Quilts of Kindness

Giving back came in yet another form this month when The Mary Campbell Center received a generous donation of handmade lap quilts from the Helping Hands Quilt Guild of Dover, Delaware. The quilts are vibrant, soft, and perfectly cozy; and each MCC Resident received one to call their own.

Thank you to all members of the Helping Hands Quilt Guild, Dover, DE chapter, and to Charlene Stephens for orchestrating the donation.

MCC Gets Ready for Easter

MCC’s very own, Benji the Bunny, helped Residents, families, and even some MCC staff members get in the Spring spirit this month as he and two of his furry friends worked as helpers to the very busy guy at the top, The Easter Bunny. Benji and friends posed with Residents, families, and staff giving everyone a chance to get in on the bunny fun.

Thank you, Jojo Covell, for sharing your creative talents with us and hosting this Easter/Spring photoshoot. It was a hit! When they weren't posing for the camera, Residents and volunteers spent time soaking up the sun on the back patio as they dyed eggs for the Easter holiday.
