History, despite its wrenching pain,
Cannot be unlived, and if faced
With courage, need not be lived again.
Lift up your hearts.
Each new hour holds new chances
For new beginnings.
Maya Angelou
History will tell this year as a story of both struggle and the unimaginable triumph of hope. With courage, we confronted a disease that devastated our communities. With courage, we faced the racism and inequity that continues to ravage our society. February reverences the African American story woven so deeply in our nation’s history. As we find ourselves in its pain, we also reverence the richness of its gift.
Cranaleith continues to commit the resources of our minds and hearts to becoming an anti-racist organization. We celebrate the wisdom and beauty revealed in every culture, in every generation, in every circumstance. As a community of mercy, we turn our eyes most tenderly to those marginalized and crushed by a broken society, and by the suffering of our own time. We seek conversion.
Join us in healing the blindness that disfigures the face of God in our midst. Listen to the wisdom, and embrace the beauty of our diverse community. Create with us the vision of a new day. Know that we ask God’s strength and sustaining grace for each of you.

Here on the pulse of this new day
You may have the grace to look up and out
And into your sister’s eyes, into
Your brother’s face, your country
And say simply
Very simply
With hope

Don't miss the chance to dialogue with this dynamic group of educators, artists, social workers, and theologians!
When the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Stephon Clarke at the hands of police in the spring of 2020 stirred Americans into greater awareness of racism, the protests that ensued had a new tone. Young people of all races came out as never before and had a different perspective on how America must move forward. Find out what they are seeing and what their vision is.

We invite you, as a caregiver that needs the same grace, compassion, and care that you give to others, to consider self-care as a preventive measure. Self-care allows you to be prepared with what to do and where to turn in moments of crisis. Self-care allows you to stay the course and hang in there with what is happening. Caring for yourself is part of being a good caregiver for another.
Let’s work together and talk about our physical, emotional, spiritual selves in our relationships at work, home and in our communities. Let’s celebrate you for the hard work you are doing!

Cranaleith Spiritual Center is excited to partner with Mercy Center Burlingame and Mercy Retreat Centers across the country for a creative Lenten program!
Using Jen Norton’s book, Surrender All (Ave Maria Press) as a starting point, Jen and Mary DuQuaine, Director of Mercy Center Burlingame, will guide our walk together as we meditate on the Stations of the Cross. Then, Jen will guide you in creating a unique piece of expressive art that examines your own heart, finding clues to your mission call.
Tip: If you're missing those pre-COVID paint parties, gather a group of friends (virtually) and participate in this 6-week program together!

Sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy, Cranaleith offers a contemplative space for all those seeking wholeness and transformation for themselves and society. We are committed to making Cranaleith accessible to all, especially to persons who are poor and those who work in solidarity with them. We invite those at the center of need and those at the center of influence to reflection, reverent dialogue and meaningful partnerships. Please help us support our work.
