"…the Holy Ghost over the bent world
broods with warm breast and with ah! bright wings."
Gerald Manley Hopkins

Dear Friends,

After the crucible of this painful year, Pentecost found us eager to emerge from our “upper rooms,” windblown and seared by the fierce love of a Merciful God. We step into a chastened world, our own hearts awakened to the fragile beauty of “dearest freshness deep down things.” We turn more gratefully toward one another, leaning into stories we recognize as our own. They are stories of vulnerability and longing, of wisdom and goodness. They are stories of the mighty deeds of God in Whose image each of us is created—transformed over and over again to “renew the face of earth.”

This week, we remember those who gave their lives in the power of this entrustment. We draw hope from their courage to heal a world shattered by divisiveness and injustice. In our own hearts, in our own circles and in the country whose wounds we share, we embrace conversion.

With great joy, we welcome you back in person to Cranaleith. The earth has been renewed in its passage through the seasons. It is ready to offer its resilient gift. Come, join us for programs where your spirit can rest or be roused. Come listen to the stories you recognize as your own.

Peace,
The Cranaleith Staff

Scripture. Imagination. Stories. Prayer.

Ever since Jesus started telling stories, these four belong together. How do they or how might they enrich your spiritual life? This is the question we’ll explore in three interactive sessions. Each session stands independently, even as they build on one another. Come to one or more, as you are able.

Program fee: $20 per session; $45 for all three
Join us for our first outdoor retreat of the summer!

As we near the end of the pandemic and life begins to return to normal, let’s take an evening to honor the growth we experienced during this time, make space for our grief and celebrate the renewal of returning. This gathering will use group drumming interspersed with prayer, sharing and meditation to reconnect us with each other and with our places in our communities and in nature.

Program fee: $20
Enter into the sacredness of life through the passageway of ritual! God is the One Who dances in the rhythms of creation…light and darkness, times and seasons, silence and song, growth and diminishment. We also dance in these same rhythms; in both ordinary and significant moments, our lives are laced with mystery.

This program will include sharing stories, personal reflection, writing your own psalm and designing a new ritual that will draw you into fullness of life.

Forgiveness from Home
"Forgiveness and reconciliation aren’t the same thing, but forgiveness can help empower reconciliation not just between people, but between the divided parts of ourselves."

Guest blogger Chenele Shaw participated in our recent retreat, "From Resentment to Hope: Forgiving Our Society." Now, one year after the death of George Floyd, she reflects on her definition of forgiveness.

Trinity Sunday
Dt 4:32-34, 39-40; Rom 8:14-17; & Mt 28:16-20
Here we are on Trinity Sunday, in awe of God who is somehow three persons perfectly united in one being. God is what we long to become, a perfect community. While the Trinity may rightfully remind us of how utterly different God is from us, it is meant to draw us closer to God… Read more.
