Happy Mother's Day! "Mummies" Get in FREE
The Institute of Science invites visitors to bring their "mummies" to see King Tut on Mother's Day, May 14. In honor of the holiday, mothers enjoy free admission to the museum and the treasures of Tutankhamun. Give your "mummy" "Wonderful Things" From the Pharaoh's Tomb this year!
Egyptomania in Detroit
In conjunction with the Institute's Tutankhamun: "Wonderful Things" From the Pharaoh's Tomb exhibition, the Cranbrook Center for Collections and Research offers a spring Day Away trip exploring Egyptian design in Detroit on Saturday, May 20. Highlights include a tour of the Masonic Temple and its Egyptian Lodge Room, and a visit to the sphinx-guarded Dodge mausoleum. The day begins at the Institute of Science with a private tour of Tutankhamun.
The Bat Zone Expands and Moves to New Location
After 15 successful years at the Institute of Science, the Organization for Bat Conservation and the Bat Zone will migrate to a new, larger location outside of the Cranbrook Campus in June. Regular weekend public programming in the Bat Zone at Cranbrook will include expanded weekend programming May 13 - 28. The Organization for Bat Conservation will continue to offer its popular Friday Night Bat Walk at Cranbrook each Friday night from June through August.
From "GL HF" to "GG WP" Explore Game Design During Summer Camp
Campers will learn to design and program their own side-scrolling computer game using Gamemaker, an easy-to-use 2D game engine, during Explore Game Design! camp July 31- August 4. Created for kids entering grades 7-9, and suitable for new campers, or those who have previously attended game design camp, each participant will finish a game prototype by the end of the session. Register your gamer today.
Discover the Treasure of Tut!
Explore the splendor of the greatest archaeological find of all time in Tutankhamun: "Wonderful Things" From The Pharaoh's Tomb. Meticulous reproductions of both personal and state objects reveal the story behind Eqypt's most famous pharaoh. Tickets are $10 for adults who are non-members and $9 for members. Children 2-12 and seniors are $8 each. Non-members must also pay museum admission.

The Discovery Center Fosters a Love of Science
In the Family Discovery Center, children and families learn about the world we live in through hands on experiences. Visitors explore with microscopes and binoculars, learn about children around the world, choose from 22 discovery boxes offering a wide range of topics like dinosaurs, magnetism, rocks, and the solar system, and much more! Discovery Center is free with admission every Sunday.
