Camp Out Overnight and Explore After Dark at Cranbrook
Families are invited to a sleepover at the Institute of Science on August 11 to view the Perseid Meteor Shower and enjoy an evening of astronomy fun. Activities include a bat walk, star viewing in the Observatory, a program in the state-of-the-art Acheson Planetarium, a late night pizza party, and, weather permitting, the meteor shower viewing.

View the Eclipse at the Institute of Science
For the first time in nearly a century, a total solar eclipse will occur coast-to-coast across the United States, on August 21. To celebrate, the Institute is hosting a day's worth of events and inviting the public to safely view the eclipse in the Observatory from 11am until 4pm. We'll also stream live views from the path of totality. Purchase a pair of eclipse viewing glasses in the Science Shop and join us for this unique event.

Daily Summer Programming in the Planetarium Continues through Labor Day
The Acheson Planetarium continues its daily planetarium program schedule through the end of summer. Get ready for the eclipse on August 21 with Totality, a program all about lunar and solar eclipses. Each Totality program includes a look at the upcoming event later in the month.

Last Chance to Explore the Treasures of Tut
The Institute's blockbuster exhibition, Tutankhamun: "Wonderful Things" From The Pharaoh's Tomb, ends its run on September 3. Meticulous reproductions of both personal and state objects allow guests the opportunity to immerse themselves in the splendor of the greatest archaeological find of all time to discover the story behind Egypt's most famous pharaoh. "Wonderful Things" is open daily through Labor Day.

Bat Walks on Cranbrook's campus led by the Organization for Bat Conservation conclude on Friday, September 1. Each walk includes a look at bat habitats, information about installing a bat house in your yard, and a search for bats on campus. Times vary depending on sunset.

Group Tours offer Special Experiences
Summer Group Programs offer discounted admission to the museum and the opportunity to add special programs for a full day of science exploration. Programs run until September 1 and include either planetarium or "Insect Inspector" experiences. All ages programs make this an excellent day out for any group.
