CRANSTON, RI — On Friday, October 30, 2026, Cranston police officers responded to a large Halloween party at 58 Weston Avenue after receiving a 911 call reporting a disturbance involving multiple individuals fighting.

At approximately 9:43 p.m., responding officers encountered a gathering estimated to include upwards of 150 attendees, many of whom were juveniles. Officers observed individuals fleeing the property and running through traffic on Cranston Street, creating a significant safety hazard for both pedestrians and motorists. Additional Cranston police personnel were requested to assist in controlling the crowd and safely dispersing attendees. The Providence Police Department and Rhode Island State Police also responded to provide mutual aid.

During the response, officers observed juvenile attendees, some as young as 15, possessing and consuming alcoholic beverages. Four juveniles were arrested in connection with the incident for various offenses, including obstructing an officer in the execution of duty and disorderly conduct. Three juvenile females, ages 15 and 16, were subsequently identified as having consumed alcohol at the gathering. Preliminary breath tests administered at police headquarters confirmed the presence of alcohol. One of the three was additionally charged with possession of alcoholic beverages by an underage person and possession of one ounce or less of marijuana by a person under 17.

Officers investigating the gathering spoke with the adult resident of 58 Weston Avenue, who acknowledged permitting the party at her residence. She stated that the gathering was intended to be a smaller event involving friends of her 17-year-old daughter.

An examination of the property’s side and backyard revealed numerous discarded alcoholic beverage containers, as well as empty shot cups and miniature liquor bottles openly displayed on a table. Based on the circumstances, officers determined that the gathering involved the availability and consumption of alcohol by underage individuals and presented significant safety concerns for the juvenile attendees.

The adult resident, identified as 47-year-old Silvia Acevedo of 58 Weston Avenue, Cranston, was arrested and charged with one count of furnishing/procurement of alcoholic beverages for underage persons. She was held for arraignment.

Additionally, 52-year-old Mathias Henebury of 19 Custer Avenue, Johnston, was arrested in connection with the disturbance. Henebury interfered with officers who were attempting to apprehend a juvenile fleeing from police. After being advised that he was under arrest, Henebury resisted officers and a responding supervisor. He was charged with:

* Simple Assault

* Disorderly Conduct

* Obstructing an Officer in the Execution of Duty

* Resisting Legal or Illegal Arrest

Henebury was held pending arraignment before a Justice of the Peace.

The parents or guardians of the three juvenile females who were transported to police headquarters were notified and responded to take custody of the juveniles.

The Cranston Police Department reminds parents and guardians that large gatherings involving underage drinking present significant risks to the safety of young people and the surrounding community. Adults who knowingly permit or facilitate the possession or consumption of alcohol by underage individuals may face criminal charges under Rhode Island’s social host laws.

The Cranston Police Department appreciates the assistance provided by the Providence Police Department and the Rhode Island State Police in helping officers manage and safely disperse the large gathering.
