THE MAKERSPACE IS COMING SOON
|
|
If you haven't heard, beginning March 1, we will have indoor events at all Redwood City Public Library locations. This means the Makerspace at the Downtown Library will be opening! Our Makerspace is a place with programs for all ages, technology and hand crafting tools, and a shared collaboration space.
We are filling up our March calendar with a variety of inspiring programs. For adults that want to make and create, we have Open Sewing, Art Salon, Digital Makers and more. On Wednesday mornings, our volunteer led Drop In Tech Help is back: bring your devices for one-on-one help. For kids and teens we have Kid Makers, Crafty Wednesdays, Teen Makers and Family Makers. You can find these programs (and so much more) for kids, teens, adults, and Spanish speakers on our Makerspace page.
In addition to programs, the Makerspace is also available for Open Hours and Coworking Space Monday through Friday from 10am-3pm. We have reconfigurable tables and chairs for collaborative work and TVs with HDMI connections. We also have laptops available for checkout from the Kiosk in the Reading Room.
While the pandemic is still a concern for our community, our safety measures provide a safe environment for you to gather. To attend our events or visit our libraries, masks are strongly recommended for all visitors and masks are required for unvaccinated individuals over age 2. We also ask that you maintain 6 feet distance from others inside and outside our libraries.

STORYTIMES AT THE LIBRARY
|
|
Are you raising a reader? Talking and reading aloud to your child are the most important things you can do to promote language development and reading skills. To help your child develop a love of reading, we recommend coming to our Storytimes. And the great news is that Stortyimes inside our libraries are returning on March 1!
We have something for everyone with our Storytime offerings. Tiny Tales is perfect for babies under 1 year old. We have Preschool Storytime at each of our locations: Downtown Library, Redwood Shores Branch Library and Schaberg Branch Library. If you can't make it during the day, come to our Pajama Time Stories in the evening at Downtown or Redwood Shores. We have bilingual offerings for Spanish speakers and learners too.
If you'd rather not come to a live indoor Storytime, we have Stories at Magical Bridge, our Online Stories monthly playlists: pre-recorded stories read by the Redwood City Public Librarians in English and Spanish. We also have Dial-Story: phone message stories and songs from RCPL Librarians.

Many thanks from the Friends of Redwood City Public Library to those who donated materials at our event on Saturday. Our next donation event is Saturday, March 19 from 10am to 12pm behind the Downtown Library. If you have a small donation, we have a donation box at the Downtown Library. For donations bigger than one bag, we recommend coming to our monthly drive-up event. Your book donations help the Friends to sponsor our many events and programs like those in the Makerspace and the Summer Learning Challenge. To give to the Friends and learn more, go here.
