DEC 6, 2016

At Thanksgiving my daughter Sunshine gave me an advent calendar. She filled each of the 24 very tiny drawers with surprises. I've only opened the first five days so far but each gift is really special. I shared with my sister Dee about the calendar and she asked what I'd received so far. I told her Day #1 was a chocolate and a tablecloth runner. Her mouth dropped open and she said, "How did the runner fit in the small box and didn't it get really wrinkled?" The drawer is about 1.5" square. After laughing hilariously for some time I explained that in some drawers she put small pieces of paper with a number that matched to a large bag containing smaller numbered wrapped gifts. I feel like a little kid again because the opening of each drawer brings the joy of surprise and delight. And isn't this what Christmas is all about?
