New Beginnings

Wayne received housing and case management services in our transitional housing program. Today he is in recovery from addiction, treating his mental illness, and living in his own apartment with his girlfriend and their son. He is a peer mentor and a volunteer who speaks at local schools to encourage youth to stay out of gangs and away from drugs. Wayne’s life has completely changed as a result of the stable housing and services he received at CHI. He is changing others’ lives. As a result of you.
Our First Home

In a region where affordability is a major impediment to buying a home, CHI works with clients to improve credit score and increase savings while administering grants from New York State for down payment assistance.

Lorraine and her son moved from a basement apartment to their very own three bedroom cape as a result of CHI, which helped with the down payment and purchased new appliances and a new boiler. Over 60 families like Lorraine’s have purchased their first homes this year, thanks to you .
Spreading Holiday Cheer
Christmas Magic/Holiday Magic of Hauppauge
The incredible people at Christmas Magic/Holiday Magic made this an unforgettable time for hundreds of children living in CHI's shelters on Long Island. They provided hundreds of gifts and, of course, visits with Santa, putting big smiles on the children's faces and making the parents' days.

Thank you so much for all of the inspirational work that you do!
St. Paraskevi Greek Orthodox Church in Blue Point
This year the St. John's Ladies Philoptochos in Blue Point held a gift drive for new housewares like dinnerware sets, flatware, glasses, sheets, pillows, blankets, comforters, towels, trash bins and so many other items that families need to make a house a home.

We are so grateful for your generosity. Thank you!
Girl Scouts of Suffolk County

For the third year in a row, CHI received decorated trees from the Girl Scouts of Suffolk County and delivered them to transitional and permanent housing clients. Each individual Girl Scout Troop decorates a tree with its own theme and includes donations such as toiletries, hats, gloves, ornaments and lights. CHI was fortunate to receive 11 decorated trees for various homes this holiday season. Thank you!
United Methodist Church in East Northport
For the fourth year in a row, the United Methodist Church in East Northport hosted Breakfast with Santa. Some of the children from nearby shelters were able to attend.

The children enjoyed a meal with Santa and they got to meet him and let him know what they want for Christmas.

The kids had such a great time. Thank you to the Church for hosting!
