Game changing elements of a park system
City of Des Moines advances Parks and Recreation Comprehensive Plan
LiveDSM , the first Parks and Recreation Comprehensive Plan created for the City of Des Moines in over 20 years, will establish capital investment priorities, provide updated level of service standards, inform the evolution of recreation services, explore funding opportunities, and ultimately inspire the next game changing elements for this park system.

Designated an Iowa Great Place!
Raccoon River Valley Trail “Waukee Railroad Pergola - in the shadow of the rails” opens to the public late March
Congratulations to the City of Waukee, the Raccoon River Valley Trail Association and the Dallas County Conservation Board! They were presented with a large sign officially recognizing the RRVT and its iconic new public art installation as an "Iowa Great Place” by the Iowa Arts Council and Iowa Great Places program administered by the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs.

Watch for construction of Phase 1 to the 1,500-acre Park to commence in 2018
The Des Moines Water Works Park Foundation recently received final approval from the Des Moines Water Works Board of Trustees to begin the $9 million Phase 1 construction of a long-range master plan to transform one of the largest urban parks in the United States.
