The Power of Play
Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) are the kinds of activities and experiences that enhance a child’s life, resulting in successful mental and physical health outcomes.

PCEs are what make childhood such a joy, a time of growth, change, exploration, and undiluted happiness. So, what interactions make the most effective PCEs and how can we focus on filling our homes (and the lives of all the children in our community) with these kinds of uplifting, fortifying experiences?

Play is at the heart of creating positive experiences in childhood. Play not only promotes healthy development and overall well-being but also offers the ideal opportunity for parents and caregivers to positively engage with children, using their language.

Through play, children learn to interact with the world around them. Play allows children to create and explore a world they can learn to master, sometimes while practicing adult roles, and in turn, develop a greater understanding of the thoughts and feelings of others. At every age, from birth through the teenage years, play teaches children vital life lessons.

We are pleased to offer 'Ways to Play' and A Way of Being with Children as the foundation for building playful, healthful, and hopeful living for children and families. Enjoy!

Art Activities

Children are natural artists who love to draw, paint, sculpt, sing, dance, and act. Bring out the natural artist, architect, or performer in your child by helping them showcase their creative artistry!

This kind of play requires imagination and stretches your child to think beyond their physical surroundings. You can create a simple puppet theater or play dress up with your child which will naturally develop into role playing.
Free, Live Workshop: The Power of Co-Regulation
Co-regulation involves the back-and-forth exchange between two people as each participant adjusts their emotional state and responses based on the state of the other person.

It is an interactive experience where both individuals provide moment-to-moment feedback to each other using verbal expressions and body language. This is not just a technique between an infant/child and parent/caregiver; co-regulation can occur between any two people where there is a positive relationship.

Online Workshop: The Power of the Parent-Teacher Relationship
Both parents and teachers play a vital role in educating a child. Parents are children’s first teacher as they teach children essential life and academic skills while providing love and support.

The connection and communication between teachers and parents becomes very important in any school setting including early education settings.

Young children are very attuned with their parents, teachers and caregivers and read their cues well. So, when their teacher and parents are connected and have a positive and strong relationship, children are more likely to feel safe in their relationships with their teachers and have more positive attitude towards their teacher, center and learning.

Join us for this 30-minute, on-demand virtual training to explore the benefits of building parent-teacher relationship, as well as different ways of communicating with parents.
Clinical Workshop: Play Therapy with Families
Sometimes families need more support, especially those in pain or experiencing stress and trauma. When families play together, perceptions of each other often change, communication improves, and individuals experience a decrease in resistance. Through laughter and play, endorphins are released, and feelings of well-being emerge.

Most importantly, Play Therapy gives children a voice and promotes family empathy.

This online 1-hour workshop focuses on using play in sessions with families, with specific activities and strategies explored.

Objectives
  • Determine which Play Therapy techniques to use with client and families that are developmentally appropriate and target the presenting problem.
  • Reinforce the importance of the client's confidentiality to the family.
  • Obtain Play Therapy interventions that the therapist is able to apply immediately with clients and families.

Cost: $25 (1 hour Play Therapy non-contact APT and 1 State of Florida CEU included). Student discounts available: Please email your name, school, and a request for a 30% student discount code.
